phil and teds problem

i have a phil and teds classic twin, side by side, like a traditional double (think they've been discontinued now).

We bought it in may 09, it was delivered in June and we started using it in Spet 09.

Now- the basket has worn through and drags on the floor- making the pram almost impossible to use because it makes it v heavy and fills with leaves.

One pram hood has come away from the pram and just flaps around- doesnt provide any shelter.

The area under DS footplate, where pram touches wheel has worn away (DD has just turned 3 and he is of average weight).

I contacted the shop (even though its out of warranty) and they said i'd have to pay £55 for new hood and basket. Given it cost over £400 i thought this was out of order.

So I contacted the supplier to say i dont think this is acceptable, given it was £400 odd. They asked for pics and said they will get back to me.

What would you expect from them? AIBU?

I would expect it to be of resoonable quality and fit for purpose as per sales of goods act.

Have a look at Consumer direct. The Warranty is just a warannty it doesnt override consumer law.

It sounds like it has had a lot of wear and tear which is what I would expect afetr over a year tbh.

If you were doing a lot of driving on a new car and had worn down the tyres within a year/ scratched the paintwork, etc would you go back to the manufacturer?
