that's it really, the back wheels need replacing as the brakes don't work at the moment. they look like they should come off easily, but i can't work out how to do it...

and the nearest 'servicing' place is not terribly convenient as we don't have a car and can't really manage without the pushchair while it's being fixed...

thanks

Bumping as I have exactly the same problem. My brakes just won't push on IYSWIM. I'm guessing years of dirt must be bunging it up, but can not see how to clean it thoroughly.

bumping again..

tutu: the brakes slot into kind of cogs, which kind of cog into the wheel iyswim. the spokes that cog the cogs into the wheel have all broken off on one side of mine, and mostly broken off on the other. have a look at yours and you might understand what i mean.

if it is just dirt, get some silicone spray (not WD40, apparently that attracts dirt, rather than repels it) and that might sort yours out.

our pushchair is on its second careful lady owner, and as she has only just learnt to walk at the tender age of 22 month i envisage some fairly serious pushchair use for at least another year (hopefully not much longer) so new wheels (and therefore working brakes) would be such a boon on the bus...Grin.

I've been managing without the brakes for ages, but they would be handy now especially as it is getting quite windy where I live. I'm fed up of chasing a runaway buggy in car parks!

If you have the same pushchair as me, my wheels have a black cap in the centre. You can lever this off with a screwdriver, then there are some nutty things, again these can be removed with brute force and a screwdriver. Once they are off the axle of the wheel should slide out and the wheels are off.

oh okay, that does sound like the same one. i call the black caps the hub caps. could that be what you're talking about. how much brute force is necessary? is it liable to lead to a broken wheel and me being worse off than i was before?

thanks so much for the advice though, i was doing nothing like that, which explains why i COULD NOT get them off!!

Dp has taken them off before! But he made it look pretty easy. He just got a thin screwdriver and seemed to flick them off IYSWIM.

He didn't damage the wheel or hub cab, but he did break the star washer, but they was very cheap to replace.
