baby jogger double?
skyeplusbump · 30/09/2010 19:49
ok,so i have a phil and teds vibe and i hate it!
decided on a side by side baby jogger,as they are so light, and not as bulky as some...but i need help, whitch one do i get? the city mini looks good,i saw it today in mothercare, but ive found they do others, anyone have any experiance with them? pro's and cons?
MonkeysPunk · 01/10/2010 14:40
I LOVE the babyjogger brand stuff - so well made - really high quality!
We had a babyjogger city elite - but I've recently sold it because I wanted the babyjogger summit xc for serious off road jaunts!
The city mini is nice and small and light....there is a seller selling the city classic doubles on ebay at the moment for a really good price - if you're considering one with air tyres.
If I was having another child - I'd get a babyjogger side by side.
Oh and the quick fold mechanism on them is awesome - makes life so much easier. (you'll need something that folds quick and pops open in an instant when you have your hands full with two little ones)! Can't think of any cons - apart from not parent facing (you can't have it all I guess!). Don't know if the babyjogger carrycots fit on the double prams - might be worth investigating if that's what you like.
Personally I'd just use the main seats - you can see your kids well enough with the hood windows.
Oh and the hoods are huge - so need for parasols or extra sunshades! Infact - most of the time you can get away without a raincover the hoods are so big.
I would recommend BabyJogger highly. Great choice mama!

baby.shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_nkw=baby+jogger&_sacat=66698&_ssn=online4babyltd&_odkw=&_osacat=66698&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313 I've used this ebay seller before and found them honest and reliable - and fast to deliver too!

I have got the double city classic, it is really good. the kiddies are super comfy in it. the only con is that folded up it is still massive so you need a big car boot.
MonkeysPunk · 01/10/2010 15:02
Are the wheels quick release like on the single babyjogger models though?
latrucha · 01/10/2010 18:57
I've got the Classic model - now called Elite I think. I ADORE it. It weighs 16kilos but you'd never know it. I can push it with one finger and it turns on a penny. H

maisiemackenzie · 01/10/2010 20:52
yeah also it is one of the only doubles with 2 seperate hoods, so you can cover each one up as much as you want depending on who is awake or whatever.. i've found that really useful.
skyeplusbump · 02/10/2010 00:30
thanks guys! i think im going for the city mini...or the classic, ahh! i cant decide if i want big wheels or not!
skyeplusbump · 02/10/2010 00:33
oh i dont drive,so no car boot to worry about, but not a huge amount of indoor storage or door width(we live in a victorian terrace) do the big wheel on the classic and elite make it alot wider?,do you have trouble in shops etc?!
maisiemackenzie · 02/10/2010 05:35
it is exactly the same width as the city mini.. they both fit the same bumper bar. it is kind of deceptive.. it looks really big but fits through most doorways. measure your front door though!
skyeplusbump · 02/10/2010 18:55
dont the wheels stick out though? i suppose if it fits through most doors then they cant really.
oh i might get big wheels then...i do like big wheels!
skyeplusbump · 02/10/2010 19:51
ive also just read a few reveiws thats ay the elite is very heavy...do they mean heavy to push or to lift?
theres a very long hill i have to go up each day and one of my main gripes about the vibe is that its very heavy to push.
MonkeysPunk · 02/10/2010 22:35
I'd say the elite Will be easier to push than the city mini. Think the wheels don't stick out on the double models.
latrucha · 03/10/2010 13:44
It weighs 16k but it is light as a feather to push. I suppose it depends how often you'll be getting it in and out of the car. we don't do it much so it doesn't bother us.
maisiemackenzie · 03/10/2010 14:34
It is really heavy to lift folded up, but i almost never do that! The wheels are set in so don't add to the width, if you see what i mean!
skyeplusbump · 03/10/2010 14:57
brilliant,i wont be lifting it often,we walk everywhere.no car,and i have a single mclaren and a sling for buses etc.its just the vibe is so heavy to push,im worried this one will be to!
MonkeysPunk · 03/10/2010 21:06
I'd say babyjogger stuff is better quality than phil and teds.
Babyjogger's sealed ballbearing wheels - suspension, nicer fabrics, functional design on the babyjogger - all should enhance your pushchair experience. Is there a pram shop where you can look at one irl before buying?
skyeplusbump · 03/10/2010 21:25
i had a look at one in mothercare, but they only stock the city mini double and not the elite, theres nowhere else to look around here.but you guys have answered alot of my questions! thanks
im getting pretty exited now!
just have to sell the damb vibe first!
