Come on, show off. Who was super smug with their pram over previous white outs. What did you have that could have glided through an avalanche and slipped merrily through slush.

Is a 3 wheeler better than 4 - is there a brilliant cheap little buy you want to share?

I need to know Grin

pics here got out in all the snow every day, even when car was stuck at least we could walk out.

IMoveTheStars · 24/09/2010 13:23

I had no idea about stroller skis, they look like they'd be great for the beach too!

What a brilliant idea Grin

Babyjogger Summit XC - Will cope with anything - and - superquick to fold plus with the wheels off is very very compact (will fit in any carboot I think!).

It's a bit more deluxe than any of the "nipper" brand (which do work wonderfully well - but are not so slick with the folding - and don't have such high quality fabrics in my opinion - having tried both brands).

The handbrake on the Summit XC is useful to control the speed of the pushchair - particularly when descending. The huge rear wheels are a really good addition as they cope with large lumps and bumps in the terrain with ease (and stupidly large kerbs in an urban environment!). All round suspension will be appreciated by your little one too.

(thrilled that no one immediately went "bugaboo")

If you want a very cheap option get a 2nd hand Urban Detour. Mine was fab last winter, and yes I did feel very smug as I stormed down the road at speed in the snow whilst everyone with their maclaren's was struggling Grin.

Hevster · 24/09/2010 15:12

My Phil & Teds got through it all last winter and the one before including a 3 mile round trip to nursery on ungrited pavements and roads

sickoftheholidays · 24/09/2010 19:15

bugaboo. There, you knew someone would say it. Yes, I shoved my bone idle 3.5yo through a foot of snow 1.5m to nursery and back. Without snow wheels. I was seriously impressed.

thisisyesterday · 24/09/2010 19:18

my double mountain buggy coped terrifically with the last lot of snow. i imagine a single would be great too

gruber · 24/09/2010 21:08

Emmaljunga. Suspension was awesome and big wheels coped amazingly.

Honeydragon · 24/09/2010 22:10

sickoftheholidays Grin still out of price league even second hand. But it's not a proper pram thread without the B word.

My Frog was great in snow but hopeless in slush...It kept getting stuck in the wheels...Even with the big wheels at the front slush defeated it...But it was great as it's very easy to swap from little wheels at the front to trying out if the big wheels work better.

Urban Detour was fab in the snow.

tassisssss · 25/09/2010 20:25

nipper worked well here last year, i live on a steep hill and 3 year old freaked about sliding so i had our vintage double nipper (not 360). coped pretty well.

Meglet · 25/09/2010 20:29

My phil & teds sport and Mothercare Urban Detour were both bloody fantastic in the snow Grin.

I will confess to some smuggery when I charged off through the snow not slipping and overtaking people who were wobbling about on foot.

IMoveTheStars · 26/09/2010 00:09

I am SO buying stroller skis. Awesome idea (if only for dragging the buggy across the beach)

NickOfTime · 26/09/2010 00:17

lol, we live in canada (southern alberta - rocky mountains etc etc) and i can honestly say i've never seen anyone with stroller skis... Grin not even in the mountains where everone and his wife have got skis slung over their shoulders...

have always used chariot carriers buggies/ cycle trailers - you can fit a x-country ski kit to them, granted, but we never have. and you can close down the bug screen and the weatherproof screen and essentially have a warm cocoon for your child/ ren.

get you through anything.

they've been up mountains and on beaches too.

NickOfTime · 26/09/2010 00:18

(oh, we always use the 3 wheel version in the winter)
