Help with commute

Can anyone recommend a very very lightweight pushchair for a 26 month old?

I will be commuting to central london on the tube nearly everyday so would like to be able to carry it up and down the stairs myself instead of begging strangers. I guess it also needs to be fairly weatherproof for the winter.

Please help I am completely lost!!!

Maclaren Volo.Failing that, I'd probably rather get an Ergo and carry them. Much easier all round I would have thought.

I have a vango carrier which I have used on the tube but need to be aware of the doors! I have a £50 chicco buggy from argos that comes with footmuff and raincover and used it in the snow last year (I actually have 2 one at my mums). It does the job as i tend to walk with daughter and just lift it one handed.

Thanks boobooglass and londonmackem will look into your recommendations. DH will do some pickups and doesn't want a carrier which is a PITA really as I think carriers are so easy for the tube.

I'd suggest a carrier as well - makes far more sense.

Why not get a carrier for you and leave dh to shop for a buggy to meet his needs? He can always keep it at his work...

(sorry, that's not very helpful, but I used to get so cross at dh vetoing sensible solutions to problems for vague "but I don't want to"/"I'd feel silly" reasons)

I would recommend a quest - found volo's too flimsy. I live in London and find the quest easy to carry singlehandedly and holding onto to my son's hand

Thanks all I am going to try the maclarens and see if they fit the bill if not I will just get a carrier. Suzikettles you are right, I am doing all the research and stressing when really is a sensible solution.

maclaren volo without a doubt, i've done those steps many a time with a toddler, bags and heavier stroller all under your arms. Volo is deffo way to go. larger hood then quest too. just no legrest or recline but perfect for your needs i'd say due to the lightness and compact fold. they sell cheaply on ebay.
