Does a 2.5 year old still need a pushchair?

Just trying to work out if I'll need a double pushchair if my number 1 is 2.5 when number 2 arrives?

Could I get away with a buggie board?

Why the ! PinkElephant? Confused
As i said earlier in the thread, i take my 4YO in a double as she cannot always walk 1.25 miles on very hilly terrain across country, especially after a full day at preschool.

Also if we are late i can just ask her to hop in and we run to catch up

My 3.5YO still uses his, I'd say about 30% of the time. And as the youngest of 3 I'd say that's not particularly unusual. He'll happily walk a mile to school but if he's tired (generally on the way home from school) then he won't walk that far. Also be prepared for a little regression to babyness!

Thanks all!

I know I can wait till number two actually arrives to decide but I'm finding my current pram (Quest) v. rattly and have the itch for a new one so was hoping to decide what I need now and start getting some use out of it.

Hmmm...

Cheers

Yes buggy borad is fine IMO.

Or sling the baby for a few months.

My 3 are 2 yrs apart and never had a double.

DS2 being the last one never even rode the b-board, just walked everywhere from about 2.5yrs. I recall taking the buggy on holiday with us when he was a bit over 2 and never even getting out of the car boot.

My DS was 2.5 yrs when his brother was born and even then resisted any attempt to put him in a buggy, so never needed a double. I didn't bother with a buggy board either, but I have been known to have the eldest on my shoulders while pushing the other.

Wait and see, it's all you can do.

I would get a secondhand Phil and Teds, that way you can use it as a single now and if/when your 2.5 year old decides they want to walk everywhere.

We walk a lot in all weathers, and don't think we would have managed with sling/single or buggy board (although I do both these as well depending on where we are going/whether). But if it is pissing down or we are in a huge rush then the double seat comes out.

I am using it as a single now for ds (number3) and still occassionally use it as a double for a long walk so that dd2 (3.4)can hop in if she is tired.

It is the best bit of baby kit we ever bought.

Buggy board.

Dd1 was 22 months when dd2 was born and we have found the buggy board just perfect. Is 2.6 now and is gradually walking more and boarding less.

I wouldn't buy a double for a child of two and a half unless I was certain they needed it. Most children I know of that age do not want to spend much time in a buggy.
