Pushchairs
Do you love or hate your Quinny...
MrsFC · 31/08/2010 18:52
Hi all,
I am starting to look at buying a travel system. MrFC likes the look of a Quinny, but I hear lots of stories of punctures. Could you give me any of your experiences please?
Do you love your Quinny or hate it? Has it ever had a puncture?
All stories gratefully received....
rubyslippers · 31/08/2010 18:53
Loathed mine
Car booted it last year
Doesn't recline, tips a lot, and rubbish shopping basket
Only plus point is how small it folds up
FrameyMcFrame · 31/08/2010 18:58
I have a love/hate relationship with mine.
The plus sides;
It is so comfortable for dcs,
It looks nice,
It's warm and cosy in winter.
The bad points;
I find it hard to fold it down as I am not very tall so can't reach over to the catches very well.
The front wheel can be a paaiin in the bum.
It's quite wide.
It has never had a puncture and I've taken it all over for a year and a half.
FrameyMcFrame · 31/08/2010 19:00
Rubyslippers, are you referring to the Zapp?
I think the Op is talking about the Buzz as she said Travel system.
The Buzz has lots of recline positions and can be fron or rear facing (another good point)
BikeRunSki · 31/08/2010 19:02
Absolutley hated mine.
Too wide to get round shops.
Not sturdy enough to "off road"
Front wheel got all twisted in the wrong direction.
Push chair bit kept tipping forward.
Shopping basked miniscule.
Generally unstable, v rickety and unsafe feeling.
"Large" pushchair seat and straps would not have lasted DS past about 15 months.
Ebayed it for parts. Sold it for more than it cost!
No puncture though, but punctures are not specific to Quinny. If you go for air tyres, then you need to go to a bike shop and get some slime
rubyslippers · 31/08/2010 19:02
I think it was a zap ... Am not a pushchair expert so apols of it wasn't the one you were thinking of buying
Though they were all the same
FrameyMcFrame · 31/08/2010 19:05
The zap is the stroller one that folds down really small.
The Buzz is a monster big buggy...
GetThePartyStarted · 31/08/2010 19:44
I really like my Buzz. It is really big which is a pain for the car and shops/buses, but it is fantastically comfortable for DS. I love the rear/forwardfacing, and it's great for putting the carseat on for a quick 10 min trip out of the car when the baby is asleep.
I also find it really good for gentle off-roading (grassy bumpy field = fine, freshly ploughed field probably not)
No punctures in 7 months over lots of rough ground/glassy pavements etc.
HTH
MrsFC · 01/09/2010 11:48
Thanks all for your comments. I'm quite tall so folding it down might not be an issue, but the other points are interesting. I shall show MrFC and look again I think....

I have buzz with 4 wheels- no issues ever with punctures (have only been using for 4 months) and I love how easy it is to collapse/put up. It is a tad heavy though, which is why a lot of people start to think about swopping to a lighter buggy as LO gets older....
Regret buying the dreami- had lots of visions of DD snoozing in there happily and to be honest I used it TWICE. As soon as she got past 6 weeks she seemed to get very bored not being able to look around in there, so we use ours mostly with maxi cosi carseat in. The pushchair bit we haven't really used yet but plan to in winter and have the cosey toes etc....
2 other ppl in our NCT group have it and love it too....
To be honest seems that no one is ever 100% happy with their pushchair- I spent AGES researching/planning which to get and I bet DD has spent longer in her baby bjorn carrier...
MrsFC · 01/09/2010 18:57
Ahh, I think that was the one MrFC was looking at scarlett, it had four wheels and came with a pram. I have plans to change to a stroller at 8 or 9 months, so I don't mind the weight.
Thanks for your feedback x

I had <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=www.thinkbaby.co.uk/review/images/products/pushchairs-quinny-freestyle.jpg&imgrefurl=scotland.inetgiant.co.uk/Glasgow/AdDetails/OFFER-QUINNY-FREESTYLE-3-WHEELER-ALL-TERRAIN-PRAM-BUGGY-STROLLER/1499422&h=160&w=200&sz=6&tbnid=2UTc5_qH6V4XeM:&tbnh=83&tbnw=104&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dquinny%2Bfreestyle%2B3xl&zoom=1&hl=en&usg=__pyXGe5hHDAW2bdQ4JyxM3x9j6KI=&sa=X&ei=p5R-TN7EDp2L4gb_poSrBg&ved=0CDUQ9QEwBQ" rel="nofollow noindex" target="_blank">this onealbeit in a different colour. It was the only 3 wheeler I could get in my sports car boot. I did have a puncture but got it fixed at a bike shop for pennies, including new no puncture inner tubes. I also had the pram and car seat. I found it invaluable as I liked to take ds on walks through fields so I wanted something that was good off road. I liked the spring shock absorbers that ensured ds had a smooth ride wherever we were (lots of muddy bridleways).
I also liked the fact that the wheels were very easy to detach so if they were muddy I could just put them in a dustbin liner and keep my car clean. It also had an adjustable handle - I'm tall and lots of the other pushchairs I tried were just too low to be comfortable.
I also had the Quinny Zapp and loved that around town when ds was older.
llareggub · 01/09/2010 19:30
I have the Zapp and the Buzz.
They do the job; both have lasted through 2 children though I suspect the Buzz wouldn't last another. The Zapp looks pristine; it has stood up well to use.
I recommend the Dreami a lot; we used it as a travel cot too. Well worth the money.
All you need from a buggy is a shopping basket, easy-fold, reclining, and safety. Anything else is a frippery IMO.
PaulineCampbellJones · 01/09/2010 19:34
I love my Quinny Buzz. It has been brilliant so far and very easy to manage. The best thing by far is not having to take a sleeping baby out of their pram and just lifting the maxicosi. No punctures and it's still looking good 8 months on. I have been given a Quinny Zapp on loan for my holiday and it looks fab.
Dead easy to clean, especially as I seem to wheel through dog pooh with great frequency!
MrsBadger · 01/09/2010 20:48
I have a buzz and I hate it
ds, however, loves it [sigh]
I use my sling a lot as a compromise
SpeedyGonzalez · 01/09/2010 20:54
Quinny zapp is fine if you're 5'4" and below. I'm 5'7" and find the handles uncomfortably low. Also the lack of recline is a real prob, plus no shopping basket - or if you buy the ones off eBay they can just about fit a postage stamp inside.
Brilliant for folding, though - v small when foldedz
SpeedyGonzalez · 01/09/2010 20:56
Sorry, realised you are talking about Buzz. Had one. Built like a Hummer. Hated it. Sold it. Got a Maclaren. Love it.
expatinscotland · 01/09/2010 20:57
i have a quinny zapp and hate it. the fucking canopy doesn't lock, so it flops back whilst you are walking.
the harness is too easy for toddlers to wriggle out of.
no shopping basket.
can't hang shopping off it as it tips.
and bits of it fall off easily.
got it because it folds up small but i wish i could afford another buggy, tbh.
dinkystinky · 01/09/2010 21:08
Had Quinny Buzz (2006 version) - used it for 2 kids but they'd both outgrown it by 18 months (think they now do a much bigger seat for kids so they can use it till around 3). Found it harder to steer as kids got bigger and heavier - front wheel used to stick. Babies enjoyed it when in the carrycot attachment and the seat (v snuggly). Rubbish on public transport - too wide for london buses and not great for narrow aisles in shops. Maclaren and/or sling better bet from when the kids are 6 months plus.
mummyreynolds · 03/09/2010 16:28
Try the new Quinny Zapp Xtra, this one reclines, looks like they have fixed all the problems with the last Zapp, soo excited for trying out the Zapp Xtra!!!!
