Wich option would you go for? Need a bit of help to help me decide.

Also if you would go for a double wich would you choose a side by side or tandem? Tia

Hate to say it but the Phil & Ted might be a good option as I think it comes with both clip on seat and buggy board options? Then when you don't need the second seat you can just take it off again. Bit pricey but very practical. Not without it's faults though, you might want to do a bit of research on it. I have never had one but I was sorely tempted, till we realised that there was a huge gap between ours and dd1 could jolly well walk!

sickoftheholidays · 30/08/2010 22:08

I had 21 month gap and needed a double for about 6 months. by that time DS was walking everywhere so ditched the double and got a pliko with built in toddler step. That said, DD is now 4 and we still have the pushchair, so does depend very much on individual child.
Did try the buggy board just before DD was born, but at 20 months he just didnt get it and threw himself off it if he saw something interesting. Not good when walking along roadside!

pantaloons · 30/08/2010 22:10

My 3 DC's are 3, 5 and 7. I would go for a tandem. We had the Jane Powertwin which was great and has a really good resale value on ebay etc

Clary · 31/08/2010 00:36

I had 22mo gap between DD and DS2 and never had a double.

Use sling and buggy then buggy and buggy board once DD was 2 and a bit.

Mind you I have never done the kind of trips that people sometimes talk about on these threads - making their small children walk to the shops, walk all round the shops all day, walk home again Hmm

I have a car but use it as little as possible with the DC. H/ever I live in a residential area where most amenities you might need are a 10-15 min walk away.

carebear321 · 31/08/2010 01:16

I had 17 month gap between DCs.
Graco phoenix tandem was a lifesaver. It is big and unsightly but the kids are comfortable with plenty of leg room etc. Its easy to manoever. DS would never have lasted on a buggy board, he cant get comfortable or sleep on a buggy board.

The best thing was I got it brand spanking new from ebay for under £15!

nooka · 31/08/2010 01:53

I had a 16mth gap and mostly used a sling plus buggy, and then a buggy board once dd was too heavy for the sling. We did have a double buggy but I found it very awkward and used it as little as possible.

But it does depend on what sort of journeys you are likely to make. I didn't drive when my two were small, so I needed options that would go on public transport easily (this was before buses had space for prams/buggies) plus the walks in between. But I didn't go shopping with the children, just trips to places IYSWIM.

skintbint · 31/08/2010 02:29

neither. sling plus buggy, then back carrier plus buggy, then turf the older child out and make them walk.

had 23 mos between the first two, and 20 mos between dc2 and 3.

we did have a double bike trailer that we used when it snowed though. (live in canada)

Thanks evryone the journeys i normally make are the school trips with the ds whos in full time and playgroup and back with dd dont really go into town on buses unless dp is with me tend to stick to the local supermarket wich is around a 20 minute walk.

The sling sounds a good idea for if i do need to use buses at anypoint like in bad weather as it can be a nightmare with a singal never mind double.

depends... I walk on average 2-3 mile a day, some days 5 miles so a double (phil and teds) was essential (and ds was nearly 3 so much older)......Does you dc still nap? We needed a pushchair option for ds as he was/is still napping. If not and/or you walk less you'd probably get away with not.

withorwithoutyou · 02/09/2010 20:22

DD1 was 22mo when DD2 born.

Have absolutely no issues with the maclaren twin techno but I live in a new town where all the shops have wide doorways.

Hat the phil and teds, personally. I also like the fact that the maclaren twin is heavy to push - helps with the baby weight!

Sickoftheholidays, I have a pliko from DD1 - thought you couldn't use the step on it unless it was in pushchair mode and seat totally upright, or is that not correct? Wouild like to give it a go.

mnistooaddictive · 02/09/2010 20:38

There is 20 months between my 2. I got a double buggy that DD1 refused to get in. She got in it 3 times so I sold it and went back to my single with a buggy board.

It depends on your oldest child. Do they currently go in a buggy a lot or do they hate it? DD1 always wanted to walk beforehand so I shoud have seen the signs! I had a double nipper 360 that I loved. It was so easy to steer and the seats adjusted separately etc. I would have happily kept using it but it seemed stupid puching a double buggy whilst managing a toddler who kept walking in wrong direction!

MunchMummy · 02/09/2010 20:42

22 months between mine and we went for the buggy board option. Loved it. But my DD1 cut out her day sleep at 19 months, so we didn't need a buggy for her to sleep in.

Oh, and DD1 (and DD2) is a walker, will walk for as long as her legs will let her. At 22 months she was walking for about 40 mins at a stretch. She wouldn't have wanted to be in a buggy.

23 months between mine, and my P&Ts was my salvation. But I am one of those evil people that Clary talks about, who make their children walk everywhere. [evil emoticon] My DS has always been a fantastic walker, but when he was two, three or four miles on rough terrain was his limit. The P&Ts was marvellous then.

Oartistic · 03/09/2010 19:52

An afterthought... if I hadn't walked several miles a day, every day, when the children were little, I wouldn't have got a double at all. Any two-year-old is more than capable of a 20 minute walk every day. I'm talking about 2-3 hours of walking overall!

naturalbaby · 03/09/2010 23:03

i had a 15 gap and am about to have 18month gap. ds1 loves going for walks in the buggy and will now climb into the back of the p&t's at 26months! we started with icandy pear - i wanted them both to have proper comfy seat units and a carry cot for newborn. then when baby was sitting up he wanted to see what's going on and be next to big brother so i got a side by side. now onto p&t cause ds1 is walking more and we're not doing as many long walks.

it's great for long days out to have a seat for both of them to chill out and snooze in.

harley85 · 05/09/2010 23:10

revelo kid-sit! it is fab my daughter loves her 'special' seat and it so easy to take on or off it takes 5 seconds! it clips on the back like a normal board but with a seat,
