How long will my tall 3yr old fit in to front of a P&T's Sport?

Next baby due in December and dd will be 3 by then. She's tall for her age and I've been told that taller kids hit their head on a bar (or something) in the front seat? Granted, I heard this about the Vibe, not the Sport, but I'm worried we'll shell out for a dbl buggy that never gets used as she doesn't fit it.

Before I spend my money on a new buggy, or drag the family into town to try one out in a shop, can anyone tell me if they've had this problem?

p.s. she likes to walk but when she's tired she'll happily sit in a buggy for a whole trip so I need it to be ok for her.

Thanks!

The sport gets quite top heavy and unwieldy with a heavy toddler in the front seat. Much better when they can switch seats but that is probably 6 months off. Have you thought about a sling/buggy/buggy board combo instead until?

my dd id 18mnts and is tall and is too big for seat wen we tried her in it at mothercare, her head was on bar.that was in both sport and vibe. ended up getting britax dual. great pram am very glad we got this instead and its as light as p&ts

DS is 3.9 and 102cm and still fits in the front seat of the P&T sport.

He does fit in the back but there is a bar he can (and does) bang his head on it sometimes. The back seat also has a weight restricton of 16kg IIRC, he's just over that but it's ok for a quick walk.

The problem comes when both the kids legs are long enough to sit in the shopping basket underneath as it limits what I can buy.

Thanks for the advice.

DD is 101cm already but it'll be a while before the baby's legs are long enough so as long as DD is ok in the front for a while, by the time baby's legs are long enough, DD will probably refuse all buggy sitting anyway and insist on walking or scooter (or even bike by then).

Then, I'll just use it as a single buggy for the baby (unless we get lucky yet again!)

My 5 year old can fit in the front of my old P&T sport.

Gonkster · 04/08/2010 16:04

Thanks GirlOfCadiz. I was hoping someone would say something like this! DH has insisted we go to a shop and try it out now (having previously said online would be preferable to save time).

So that's what we'll do. Thanks for all the help.

Ours is fine when set up with both seats but a no no for DD1(3 the week before DD2 is due in October) in the front when it's set up for a toddler and a newborn . I would go to the shop and try them all out as I understand there is more clearance on the vibe

Chunkamatic · 04/08/2010 16:15

From my understanding the Vibe is actually a bit bigger so there is more headspace as Hevster says.

Also, although I know it is recommended that newborns stay lying down for 6 months, reality is that you will probably put the second seat up sooner than that. My very average sized 5mo no longer fits when it is in newborn mode with the seat on the front.

Thanks Hevster and Chunkamatic. Interesting stuff. I think trying them out is the only way.

Still haven't decided. Have put her in a Vibe and although not ideal, the fact that the hood can be moved up means she at least fits under there (even if her head is over the top of the seat).

I'm nearly decided to sod it all and just keep the Stokke that we had for my first daughter and get a Stokke Rider (ie buggy board) but I'd really rather be able to sit her down for long journeys - just can't see her being happy standing up all day on a day out.

I'll post again when we've decided. SO hard for people with more than 18month gap between kids.
