Push chair for twins with buggy board for two year old

Just found out I am expecting twins to go with the two yaar old so need a new buggy. I am after something lightweight as I have a bad back. It needs to fit a buggy board for the older child and I don't want one where one of the children is sitting looking up at their siblings bottom all the time. I don't necessarily need it to hold car seats so long as it goes flat for newborns.

Can anyone recommend anything?

Thanks

I think the Jane range is your only option, you ant something with brilliant suspension and air tyres or your back will be in ruins.
Lightweight pushchairs mean that you are doing the work not the pram.

do you usually walk?or use the car?

first wheels is lovelly, but a faff to fold,

nipper 360 twin?

Childminders here use Mountain Buggy or Nipper 360, both light to pushy (I've borrowed them)

raindroprhyme · 28/07/2010 20:32

yeah mountain buggy or nipper. tbh any double on a bus is a pain.

Lightweight to push or lightweight to fold up and lift? As the others say, light to lift usually means hell to push, esp. if one side heavier because of buggy board.

I have a double Mountain Buggy and it's unbelievably light to push. Was off Ebay. Buggy board will fit on too. I have DD(4), DS(2) and DC3 due in 4 weeks. It is heavy and although it's slim for a double (75cm) it's still slightly too wide for out front door, but OK in shops, etc. Very well designed and robust - I love it. I don't like the tandem pushchairs - either one is too low down or they are v heavy to get up kerbs. Seats don't go completely flat but there are carrycots available with good resale value.

With twins and a toddler, you need to spoil yourself ad get exactly the right pushchair (and not worry about driving everywhere for a while!).

I think buses might be a problem for a few years with 3 under 3! I have same age gap (ds2 was 21 mo when dts born).
Like last years model I have an MB with buggyboard (it will take a kiddyboard too) which is brilliant for walks but wouldn't put in the car esp with bad back. A nipper prob better option for you as it's only 10kg. You could also look at a strolli for your 2yo as they're sitting down instead. I had lots of help in the 1st yr so didn't take all 3 out together a huge amount but thought a strolli would have been a better option on my MB for that period. Depends on yr toddler.

A lot of people with twins decide to get one lightweight buggy for the car & one for the house if 2yo can cope with small walks in town etc. This is what we still do (dts are nearly 2 and ds2 nearly 4).

TAMBA great source of info if you have joined yet?

OP Just walk every where, pushing a pram with three little ones in it will a) mean you're as fit as a butchers dog b) you'll not get starred at by miserable buggers when any of them cry on the bus c) you'll have an arse to die for.

There was nowhere I needed to get to so badly I'd have taken my three under 4 on public transport. Even now 6 years later lol

Chianna · 30/07/2010 11:32

I think walking everywhere will be my last shred of environmentally friendly behaviour now. With DS we walked everywhere, reusable nappies the works but now we need a new car and I have a strong feeling that the nappies will be disposable.

On the plus side with the hills near my house regaining my prebirth weight will probably only involve pushing all three up and down the hill a couple of times (I wish!!)

Thanks to everyone for advice - I will take a trip to kiddicare and roadtest all the suggestions

you should get an abc buggy with toddler seat

thisisyesterday · 30/07/2010 11:34

here you go

I have a babyjogger mini twin and have a buggy board attached to it. I bought the scallywags buggy board in tesco (as it was on offer) but is very similar to the lascal one.
Its quite slim for a double side by side and fits through wheelchair accessible spaces. It also folds pretty well and if you take the wheels off you can get it in the boot of a zafira (or other seven seaters i'd assume) if you have the boots seats up.

It does go more or less flat was fine for my newborns (although you need a cosytoes to make it a bit more snug).

I find it great to push and pretty light although as my twins and lazy three year old get heavier hills are harder work.

I also have a Jane powertwin which does fit car seats and does fit a jane buggyboard. It has its good points and bad points but i wouldn't recommend it - although it is lovely and light to push the front seat does not recline much - certainly not enough for a newborn. If i take my twins out in it (they are now 14 months) then the twin at the back falls asleep but the front twin always looks uncomfy. Also it is a monster for folding, does not fit in the boot of most saloon cars and even i struggle getting it in the boot of a zafira.

lynnexxxo · 30/07/2010 11:55

Actually Chiana I never use my buggy board anymore so would be happy to pass it on if you were local. I'm in glasgow (and also have bags and bags on matching twin girl outfits if you were interested)

lynnexxxo · 30/07/2010 11:57

Just noticed you are not allowed to sell things on this board so I apologise.

nicolamumof3 · 30/07/2010 20:05

nipper 360 is light to fold/carry and also push. If i had my time over with double buggies would have had this from outset.

deemented · 30/07/2010 20:10

You need a First Wheels City Twin, with the carrycots. Obviously carrycots from birth, then seats as they get older. Fits a buggyboard on it well. The seats can face either way, so you can have them looking at you, or out at the world, it's fairly lightweight and very easy to push. I love mine.

Chianna · 02/08/2010 19:51

Thanks for offer anyway - unfortunately don't live in Glasgow anyway (which is a shame as I love it there).

I think the nipper 360 is not strong enough to take a buggy board, the mountain buggy is but tbh I'd go for the ABC with toddler seat.
