Best pushchair for carting shopping home?

I don't drive so have to walk/bus it everywhere. I prefer shopping in the week in lot's of different shops rather than at the weekend in DH's car in one supermarket.

I currently have a Loola Up (which I love) and a Safety 1st Surf (meh but folds very small) but would really like to get something with better carrying capability. The loola's not too bad but the back wheels are starting to splay under the weight of shopping & DD2 on buggy board! DD3 is 9 m/o and DD2 is 2.7 y/o.

Any suggestions? I'd prefer second hand and rear facing but am open to ideas.

If just walking i'd have said a Mutsy with fun seat or additional shopping basket that clips under seat. It would be fine apart from you couldn't really fold small for bus.
A baby Jogger city mini is a good option for bus, but not rear facing.
Bugaboo bee plus would be good for bus, walking, shopping and rear facing but is expensive (although cheaper than you having your own car and driving still!).

Don't need to fold to go on the local buses (at least 9/10 times you can wheel pram on). No chance of me buying a car I'm not legally allowed to drive (through no fault of my own I might add!).

Didn't think a Bee had a big basket?

I've found a Emmaljunga Edge Combi in the local paper for £50 is that any good?

You need something with air tyres and a big basket.

Nipper 360 is a great pram and handles a bugyboard well as well. You've got to buy the basket seperately but it is worth it.

Not sure on Emmaljunga prams.

emmaljunga prams are lovely! and lovely to push apparently. we tried this out before we had ds and it was either the emmaljunga or teutonia. we ended up with a teutonia as dp wanted a 3 wheeler and it was the only one that was rf 3 wheeler at the time!

i would get the emmaljunga for walking and you can get an emmljunga buggy borad too. the one we looked at in the shop had a big basket but can't remember the name of the model.

Phil&Teds with the add on seat - you can get loads of shopping in there

Yes the Bee has a deceptively huge basket!
I can fit 2 medium kids full school rucksacks in there - along with a carrier bag of shopping and the kids water bottles when seat is rear facing. However you can have more choice on what pram to get if as you say you don't need to fold it for your bus.

If you never need to fold your pram on the bus - then probably a Mutsy 4 rider (light or single spoke version) with deluxe seat that can face either way - and the additional shopping basket - which takes 10kg of shopping (that is a lot!) and you can still use the basket beneath too.

As for a cheap 3 wheeler that can carry loads - I like the easylife sport - and I put those velcro on bag hooks onto the handlebar for extra bags too. The basket beneath can hold a lot. I can also fit a bag onto the foot rest! I got mine 2nd hand off ebay for only £50. I am getting the bumper bar - which more shopping bags can be tied to (as it's very solid) and also rested on the footrest if I need. (can get around 5 or 6 full carrier bags of groceries home using this buggy, with 1 or 2 under the pram - 2 hung on the handle bar, and 2 hanging off the bumper bar/resting on footrest. Child is 2y - and he still has room for his legs!

Can get around 2/3 carriers worth of shopping loose in the extra large additional basket on the mutsy - with another bag in the basket beneath pram and 2 more hanging from hooks on handlebar.

Footprint wise - the Mutsy is smaller than the easylife sport (which has quite a long wheelbase). My ds does prefer the large hammock style seat in his easylife sport though. Oh, and the easylife sport has it's own "rucksack" fastened closely to the frame at the back of the pram seat - holding all his nappy/snack/drink/change of clothes/raincover and sunmesh for pram in it, in addition the all the shopping - so that is useful too.
Easylife sport on eBay (the one on at the mo is not the best example I have seen - but they do come up quite regularly - so keep looking for one in better condition - if you prefer)

Mutsy do their own buggyboard which obviously works well - and as your younger child gets older you can add the Mutsy fun seat (which has a huge shopping compartment on it that also takes 10kg)...

A lascal Maxi buggyboard works very well on the easylife sport (from experience).

You can buy an extra "toddler seat" to fasten to the front of the easylife sport
here although you will need to by the wheel conversion kit for a single buggy - to turn it from 3 wheel to 4 wheel, I think with this and postage - it's near £100 - but it would mean space for an extra kid - or you can put your youngest in this seat (if sitting age) and then recline the hammock seat behind and use as a huge shopping cart!!!

My friend used to have a cheap graco that had a huge basket underneath. I don't know how it is with a buggy board and its not rear facing. She used it on the bus and got so much shopping in it. Will try to find a pic.

I think it was the gratto. They are not trendy so should be cheap second hand.

sorry meant quattro

icandy was good.
Petit star zia now also good for older DC

Got the Emmaljunga (it was a Classic Sport not an Edge Combi) in the end. It came with the carry cot, pushchair unit, cosy toes, raincover & pram bag for £50 - all immaculate until dd2 got jam on the hood. DH is really pleased with how the buggy board fits as well.

I took it for a shopping trip today and got three of the reusable bags plus 16 fruit shoots organic hand squeezed fruit juices in the basket and more bags on the handle bars.

Thanks for everyones advice.
