Is Quest really OK for 3 month old? Should I look for something else....

Hello, I'm in total pushchair/travel system confusion...help me please.

I was kindly given a Quinny Buzz by partner's brother, although great in some ways I'm having to carry it up/down 2 flights of stairs to our flat every time I use it. Coupled with the fact that I can't get it on and through the front of a bus and can't get into many shops without knocking things down- all in all, I need to be looking for something else. My baby is only 6 weeks old, so for now have abandoned any form of pushchair and just carrying her around in a connecta. But...I long for the day when at least one of our trips out in the day can be taken without me carrying.

I'm thinking of hanging on until she is 12 weeks and then going for a Maclaren Quest. She is a pretty big baby, although more chunky rather than long. Will I find the Quest OK for her at 12 weeks do you think or should I be looking for more of a newborn style? Any recommendations? Thanks in advance!

I haven't experience of the quest, but would recommend a maclaren techno XT. It will see you through from newborn to much older, is super light and foldable but sturdy and rugged. We have never had or needed anything other than this (apart from sling).

Oh and forgot to say they can lie flat, get good shade with the zip-down hood and it has a full rain cover.

i'd recommend xt too if you want a stroller type. Importantly it lies flat and has suspension on wheels. Otherwise what about a bee? can pick up the older ones for £200ish

Great, thanks ladies, will go for an XT.

Now for the superficial bit- I see they just come in black and grey but I can get comfort packs in more colourful get ups which will make it (for me) a bit nicer to look at. What extras do I need/can I get in addition to the basic stroller? Will comfort pack and footmuff do it? I guess a raincover too. Are comfort packs needed anyway or is the basic stuff there and comfort packs just for the jazz of it? Anything else I would need to get? I've heard people mention hinge covers???

Thanks again!

It cimes with a good raincover so no need to get that. The proper maclaren footmuff is very big and bulky so I prefer a soft fleece zip-up cosytoes thing like you can get at john lewis.

Hinge covers - we don't bother, just keep DC away from it when folding - but I don't think they're expensive so get some if you prefer.

You get the raincover with it. There is a new red one in Mothercare as well, looks lovely.

You can get lovely liners for the XT, lots of different combinations.

The new XT's have new hines so no hinge covers needed.
