Hi,

getting frustrated with tester pots....

The nearest I can get to it is dulux willow tree but thats not sagey enough but the sagey greens are too grey.

Its for a lovely attic room with lots of light and space and stripped wood floors and big plants. (unfortunatly not mine! but am helping a friend out who has touching faith in my colour sense).

Any ideas out there?

Farrow & Ball French Grey is nice.I have kitchen units in it,in a smallish kitchen and it isn't gloomy/dingy.Every one who has seen it loves it.

Second french gray - my french doors are painted in this and I love it

I think Watermelon - our bedroom - would be too green

The rest of the house is Egyptian Cotton, so way too gray

Thanks, will have a look at the F&B. Never used them before as have gulped at the price but will look into colour matching.

I think French Grey would look too white and bland in a light room. I know it's not exactly sage but Eau de Nil by Laura Ashley is a nice deep colour that would work well with plants in a room with plenty of light, especcially a bedroom.

f and b old white?

bathtime · 08/07/2010 20:24

check out www.designerpaint.co.uk - you'll love it. when you click on colour chooser, you click on the tiny little squares which is quite fiddly, but brings up a different pallette for each minute movement (you'll see shen you get there.
I think Sanderson and Paint Library do lovely colours. also look at linwood - they have a nice green iirc.

I have F&B stone white in my living room which has been much admired by MNers It really isn't that much more expensive than other paints - they are all about £20 for a 5 litre can I've found when redecorating of late

F&B French Grey is not a light colour; desperately wanted it in my bedroom ... but was way too dark. Not really sage-y eiter, IMO. Old White would be nice.

Furball · 08/07/2010 20:43

we have dulux green earth - tis really really nice

ps - the dulux site no way shows it's true colour.

Furball · 08/07/2010 20:54

it's the third picture down here

and similar to the first photo down

It's that sort of shade

I think this is half the problem - the websites are different to the colour cards, tester pots and real thing. Dulux soft fauna 4 looks about right. I had a look at the farrow and ball colours but they all look so dingy on the computer. Possibly my monitor as 1000 MNers can't be wrong, surely.

Furball, you've got me addicted ... Do you mind fixing a dinner for my DH now as I'm rather busy playing with palettes...
