Is £1,500 a fair price to get a London flat professionally painted?

I need to paint my flat before it can be shown to new tenants. The flat is a large one-bedroom flat (sep kitchen, bathroom, living room and hallway), and the quote includes all fillings/fixings. (There are one or two cracked areas, and apparently some other spots that need repair). The quote is based on three to four coats of Dulux (which is expensives, Im aware) on walls, ceilings and wood. The flat is in NW6.

Ideally I would like this done by a professional company as I'd want to be able to a) get this done asap and b) have someone I can yell at if there is a bugger up. Also, as the house is carpeted, would need them to work very neatly.

I have received three quotes to paint it (wood, walls and ceilings, including fixing/sanding/filling where necessary). The quotes: for labour and materials (and three to four coats of paint), the quotes have ranged from £1800 to £2670. I negotiated one contractor down to £1500. The question: Does £1500 seem reasonable to you? It seems so much to me, but I am not sure.

Any input gratefully received!

That seems like a great price. I would jump at it if you think they will do a good job.

Sounds very reasonable to me also.

Lovely thanks chaps - I had no idea. Really appreciate the replies.

I will go further, and say that doesn't sound reasonable - it sounds quite cheap!

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 30/06/2010 12:31

Yes, that sounds extremely reasonable (i.e. cheap). Do you have references for that contractor?

VinoEsmeralda · 30/06/2010 12:37

wow very cheap, does it include glossing the woodwork too?

SkaterGrrrrl · 30/06/2010 12:38

The managing agent is sorting it out so I'll get references from them.

Really pleased this has turned out to be a good price.

Yay for Mumsnet!
