I am drawn to contemporary looking bath/shower rooms. But don't want to go too fashiony and have it date.(avo bath suite, whatnot).

Havering between wall hung loo and close coupled. Quite like wall mounted taps but dh says they all look like robots c*cks Like wall hung basins. Catalano a make I like for basins and loos. Also like the Duravit happy d. Will prob do low profile shower tray with sheet of glass across. Maybe a long slim white gloss cab (bathstore do one I like) rather than mirror cab or vanity. Might just have mirror cut to size along wall above basin. I like this groovy loo

So with all this blather in mind. The tiles. How do I want em? They were from swanky www.surfacetiles.com but are not shown on the site. They were vastly reduced and bargainous. They are a bone/v v v light grey technical marble with v v small marble sparkles in. I bought 16sq metres so it will do a fair bit of the room floor to ceiling.

So what do you think? grid h or v, or brick style? Which is most enduring?

With the groovy loo I mean I like the whole room, not just the throne

I think the way you have the tiles put up depends on your room shape. If you need to make it appear wider I'd go with a brick format, with the longest edge laid horizontally.
If the ceiling is low I think the other way is better with the long edge vertically.
Not sure the style of the room (or the style of fittings) matters too much in this respect.

I am also looking into bathroom design, and finding it hard to make any decisions.

Think wall hung loo is good (easier to clean too), but think I agree with your DH that wall mounted taps can look a bit odd.

Upright definately - our bathroom is quite small but our tiles looked silly horizontal - I just assumed that they would go upright and dh thought horizontal - I won
I wanted a loo like that but to contruct the framework to hide the cistern / pipework and then hang it on the wall would have taken too much off the room. we went for a small cistern but v plain toilet.

have a look at Dwell for bathroom cabinet - we have an all mirrored front slimline one with double doors - lovely.

lucycat, what loo did you get? Pannacotta i'm finding it hard. I thought it would be easier than the kitchen but i don't think it is really.

We opted for something very similar to this one from B&Q

Clean, simple & hopefully indestructible!

and this is our cabinet from Dwell it looked huge when it arrived but looks great on the wall and because it's only 12cm deep I don't feel as though I'm going to bang my head on it when I rinse my teeth!!
