Kitchen cabinet handles - was this good advice?

I was talking to an engineer friend recently and he passed on his best piece of advice about kitchen design - to make sure that anything you touch is great quality and not worry so much about the carcasses etc.

So, in our new Ikea kitchen we are already ignoring that advice about worktops as I think with a v young family I just need easy, easy, easy - so Duropal it is.

We're going for the best appliances I can justify so I suppose that is good.

Now - cabinet handles. Would you pay out extra for some quality handles or are they uch or a muchness? The Metrik ones I like in Ikea are a fiver for 2. I've found similar styles online for up to £10 for one.

Where did you get handles? Any recommendations? Or is it good enough to stick with Ikea?

Thanks for the reassurance - the budget is creeping up and up as I look at nice taps and sinks and splashbacks...

I wouldn't go too mad on the taps - I think you can get carried away with these things and start to think they're all necessities. I looked back at how much we spent on our tap and I was gobsmacked!

I dont know much about this but I know our kitchen cupboard handles were £9.99 each in homebase or b&q but in the plumbers screwfix catalogue they were £2.99.
