Charities that take good quality white goods?

We've put a fridge freezer and a Miele dishwasher into storage, rented, and now we're going to be moving into our new home...which has its own white goods. There must be some way of donating good quality second hand white goods, surely?

Would Recycle be appropriate, or are there charities that take them?

Thanks for any ideas

Community Furniture Projects refurbish and test electricals and sell them cheap for people on certain benefits.

We have Trinity Hospice here who takes white goods

Local women's refuge, the tel no will be in the phone book. They will come and collect and give to women they are moving on from the emergency hostels, I have also donated bags of kids clothes/toys and books etc to same.

Thanks so much! Will try all of those. Trinity Hospice not that far from us (SW London) so will try them first.

But if not, Freecycle is a great way to get rid of things like that as some people in need furnish their entire homes from there. I've had poor experience of trying to give away really good quality items to women's refuge projects. They never turned up to collect them and treated me as if they were doing me a favour taking the stuff, despite the fact they didn't and that they'd put out a call locally for those items. i've had much better luck on Freecycle. People in real need who get so much pleasure from new things and respond quickly.

Ask your local council or housing association for a recommendation. There is a charity locally which will collect and keep them for later reuse.

We have a recylcing charity called Reclaim in DOrset, may be somewhere similar in your area.

Elibean - the British Heart Foundation is about to open a white goods and furniture shop in Brixton so am sure would love them

We've given things to Emmaus before as well.

I'm SW London too, it's the Wandsworth one I'm thinking of. I think they collect for free but not sure.
