Anyone know about lawns? About to put house on market and just had a scarily destructive lawn treatment ....

We thought the lawn guy was coming to feed, reseed a few small patches and generally make it look good. He's actually done a major job of scarifying it and reseeded the whole thing. In a word it looks .... shit.

Lawndestroyer has left us a note saying "allow 2/4 weeks for germination and 2/4 weeks for growth." Not much we can do I guess but any advice? Is it really 4 weeks before we'll see any greenery? (sob)

I would be livid. I think you would find it difficult for it to look good in a month to be honest - hope for lots of rain and sunshine. Do you have to put your house on the market now - end of the window really before the hols or can you wait until September.

Alternative pay to get turf if you need to ready now.

If I was looking for houses I wouldn't be put off by this, just tell viewers that you've had this done and it will be ready by the time they move.

I don't think it is a major issue.

Don't fret about it. It may be a couple of weeks before you get viewers. In my experience lawns grow like crazy at this time of year. If it doesn't rain, make sure you use a sprinkler (but get expert advice - you don't want to wash the seeds away)

Great advice, thank you - we could wait till September, but we're moving schools so had hoped to be at least partly on the way by then.

Just come back from school, and it looks - well, still shit, but at least like its had something done to it on purpose, not like its been neglected.

this is normal fro lawn treatment....i have done half of mine,to compare with the other half. (i know!)

but it really has improved....3 weeks on,with all this rain, its so much better!

whiteliesaregoodlies · 10/06/2010 17:11

ILoveTiffany, 3 weeks will do fine .... we can wing the photos (being taken Monday), more worried about potential viewers thinking "oh charming - a large patch of seedy mud."

Oh, just tell everyone that you've had a specialist lawn consulant come in to reseed the whole thing and buyers'll be fine. They'll probably think you're just terribly, terribly keen!
