Hi, we've got a decent size lounge diner, at the moment one end has wooden floorboards and it just occured to me we could paint them. Anyone done this, recommend this/ have any words of wisdom etc?

Many thanks, ps, I can't believe I'm actually getting a bit excited at the thought of painting them...

We have painted floorboards in our bathroom. We used a special floorboard paint and it took forever to dry. Like, days. And it needed 3+ coats.

Perhaps someone may have tips to reduce this - but it's worth bearing in mind that your room may be out of action for a while.

DD has her bedroom floorboards painted white - very pretty and practical, it did take ages to dry and is going to be refreshed when she is on Guide camp in the summer hols.

They will show the dirt tho and under any chairs they may get scuffed, chipped. We bought those felt type pads to go under her desk chair legs because they were scratching it.

this is what we used, but it certainly took longer than 2 hours.

Farrow and Ball do an undercoat of aluminium paint to go with their paints.

It's fine for lower traffic areas like bedrooms/bathrooms but if you have pets and young dc's the sitting room gets very scratched. I have it in ours with the undercoat and 3 coats and it is still scratched to buggery - looked good for about 3 months.
