When we turn our taps off or when the loo finishes flushing, our pipes make a terrible noise. It starts off sounding like someone is playing the trumpet and tails off into a high pitch wine.

I'm sure its an air lock, we have bled the radiators but that hasn't helped.

Does anyone have any ideas what to try next???

rads will be on a difernet system! If you have a single tap in bathroom you could try holding the palm of your hand under the tap pushing upwards to stop any water comming out and trun on the tap at full blast Now remember to push hard otherwise you will get soaked! this should push the water back through the pipe work and flush through any air blockage. ps it could also be the pump needing servicing in which case you will need a plumber to do this.if it is just an air blockage then the one way to get rid of it is to flush through the pipes if you have two seperate taps then do one at a time trying the cold first as this is probably the culprate if its affecting the loo as the toilet only operates on cold!

We had that problem and I think it was caused by the stopcock in the attic water tank.We had it replaced and it stopped. But we still have problems with noise sometimes and i think its because the water pressure to this house is so variable and high water pressure causes the pipes to vibrate. We still have the original lead pipes which regularly spring leaks and need to be replaced and this can cause vibration issues.I think you need a plumber to come and investigate.

DH says to try adjusting the stop cock in case its vibration caused by high water pressure.
