Boiler regulations: how far from a window?

Can anyone help?

We are having a new boiler (gas condensing combi) installed, the previous one was in an upstairs cupboard.

The plumber has put the unit on one of our kitchen walls, cut the flu and plumbed in a couple of the pipes.

However, when DH got home last night he said 'I'm sure the guy who did the quote said the boiler had to be X distance from the window, so I was expecting it to be on the other wall'!

When questioned this morning the plumber said that there was a problem with the flu (which will need to be routed away from the window and he is aware of this) but he isn't aware of any regs about where the actual boiler needs to be with regard to the window.

I've done some googling, but can't find a copy of any regs on the internet.

Has anyone got direct experience of this? I'm OK trusting the plumber, but DH is tearing his hair out as he's had previous nightmare experiences selling a flat with illegal plumbing.

I'm really sorry if this has been done before, I looked for a previous thread but couldn't see any hopeful titles!

Is the plumber a member of [[http://www.gassaferegister.co.uk/ this?}}. British Gas always notify us that ours does n't meet current regs (previous house one installed by BG didn't either by the time we moved) as the flue is too close to an opening window, and they are at least 18 ins away. I've a feeling it is 60cm min for the flue, not actual boiler, but you could double check with your council.

The company who employ the plumber are registered to install the type of boiler. Their website says they are CORGI registered.

Good to know you managed to sell a house that didn't meet current regs, not sure if that will be as easy with a newly installed one!

Thanks for the info
