Here we go again - think we've found a house to make an offer on.

We saw a house we like that we think we'll put an offer on. Well DH is certain we will but I need to view again because it didn't win my heart but it tick all of the boxes and is just under our budget by £50!

I think I've viewed so many houses, and had ffers declined on a fair few, that I'm just jaded by the whole thing. I'm still wondering when you 'know' it's the right house. I'm not sure such a think exists anymore.

Nosey I'm sorry.

It's rubbish isn't it. We just have to hope that the market does indeed take a turn for the worse and we are the last ones standing. Have just spoken to another agent though who rang to tell me that she has nothing to show us but has a queue of buyers lined up in the area that we are looking .

Next time I swear I am going to offer the asking price straight away and then do all the negotiating after the survey. I'm sure that's what everyone else is doing.

You're probably right. Being straight, honest and in a great postition has got us precisely nowhere.

I too am waiting in vain for the market to dip.

And another thing (yes, I'm on a rant now) when we were selling we agreed aamongst ourselves that we would accept an offer of, as it happens, 3% less from someone not in a chain. Seems only we think like that.

I can't even storm off in a huff - it's not as though any vendors or EA's would notice, I'd only be biting off my own nose!

'What's meant for you won't pass you by' and all that.

I am reminded that I was actually terrified of our offer being accepted as the market is likely to fall once the public spending cuts kick in. Also I was lamenting that our perfect house had come up at just the wrong time economically (i.e. before prices fall).

So we should be grateful really.

(doing my best to believe all this!)

Well, there has been a development. The people who outbid us who were in 'as good a position' as us have lost their buyer. Vendor has said if we match their full asking price offer she'll accept it.

So, we offered full asking price and are just waiting for a call back to confirm that she has accepted our offer. Full asking price stretches us but we've come to the realisation over the last few weeks that we need to spend that extra to get the type of house we want - so we'll have to just accept it. I'll have to do all my shopping now because they'll be no treats for the next few years.

Oh, and the cheek of it, there was a real stress on us needing to complete by end of July - what a joke, if that was so important why did she go initially with someone in a chain? Having been stung before trying to buy from someone who imposed a deadline we won't be stressing about meeting it.

Of course this may all be a game and the EA could come back and say our bid has not been accepted after all.

I'm not getting excited this time.

How did it go, Nosey? Just read this thread and feel gutted for you and Fruitstick - we're about to get on this crazy ride too and I'm dreading it, frankly.
