Need to replace the family bathroom, any tips?

We've decided it's time to replace our knackered bathroom, living with gold taps and a broken avocaodo suite is getting a bit depresssing...

We'll be putting in a new shower bath, loo, basin, towel raditator and some storage.
Walls will be tiled and the flooring probably Marmoleum

What are your best design tips for a family bathroom which looks good and is practical? We have a budget of around 5K.

TIA

Avoid those ridiculous sinks which are bowls on a shelf. A nightmare to clean underneath and they will be the design equivalent of avocado bathroom suites. The glass ones in particular show every splash and drip. If they are ona wooden shelf the wood gets splattered easily.

I love my marmoleum floor.

A shower on a flex rather than a fixed shower head makes cleaning the bath easier and is more flexible for washing kids hair.

I think a bathroom should look fresh and bright in the morning and soothing at night.

I may be wrong, but I have a feeling that this company actually make the tiles for Fired Earth, but at a fraction of the price

Thanks Jaybird, I agree about the bathroom being both fresh and relaxing, though it's quite hard to get that right.
Will check out your tile link, F Earth look but much cheaper would be great...

We've got karndean flooring in the bathroom and it's AMAZING.

We've also got a roll-top bath which actually works really well with kids as you can hide all the toys underneath it!

We've just had ours done - there's pictures on my profile. Very pleased with the cupboard under the (slab top) sink, and the heated mirror over. The offset corner bath makes it really big, and the corner shower feels v spacious even though it isn't really that big

WOuld love a roll top bath but not sure it's ideal to have a shower over (when you have two small/messy DSs).

CMOT where did you get your heated mirror from? SOunds great and nice pics on your profile too...

Which Karndean flooring do you have chabby? Does it feel nice to walk on?

It is actually part of the cabinet - I'd have to check the supplier. The company designed and sources the whole thing for us, so we just pointed at things in catalogues once she'd done a plan we agreed with.

We have tiles in the bathrooms, but have just had Karndean put in downstairs and it is lovely to walk on. We have Macrocapra in hall/dining/sitting room and Orkney stone in the kitche

Thanks CMOT, dont worry I can find it via google.

Get under floor heating

Also have the shower controls in the middle of the long wall so you don't have to reach around the screen to turn it on.

Drawers in the sink cabinet instead of doors. Much better for storing crap.
