Extended kitchen - what to use the original dining room for?

We're buying a house where the kitchen has been extended and it now has a dining room at the end of it. What would you do with the original dining room. You have to walk through it to get to the kitchen, which is a shame as otherwise we could use it as a study but I don't think it'll be very peaceful and we'll probably use one of the bedrooms upstairs as a study/office. On the other hand I think the DC will soon start using a computer so maybe it makes sense to have the family computer in that room. We are also toying with the idea of getting a piano and maybe that's the best room for it.

Can you give me any ideas of what you use a similar room for?

If it is that close to the kitchen then playroom, put the piano in and when they are older computer and also somwehere to go with friends.

We use it as a playroom/informal family room and have the other reception room looking smart and tidy free of children's clutter and the sunday newspapers so in the evening I can relax in a calm atmosphere.
Plus if someone turns up unannounced or I don't have time for a tidy up I can always show them that room and they think I'm a domestic goddess.

Utility or have you got one? Bit weird though having to walk through it.

Ours used to be playroom but now piano room

Yes, we originally thought playroom, but my kids seem to play mainly with paper, crafts, not much with toys (weirdly) so I think they'll end up doing most of their playing in the kitchen/diner. So maybe general toy storage (yes, I like the idea of the clutter free main living room!), piano, computer... Maybe it'll just happen organically when we move in. I'm worried that it'll end up being a waste of a room if we don't plan a particular use for it.

What's before you get to it? Could you knock down the wall before it (is it the hall?) and then you could use it more effectively and still have the piano there too. That way, it wouldn't feel like a passage way.

The door leads directly to a narrow corridor that goes got the front door. From that corridor there are stairs going to the first floor and also another door to the main living room.
