what to put on windows so toddler can't fall out

DS (2) will be moving into room with DD (3) soon on the 1st floor.

At the moment, the windows are the type that push outwards, but have child extenders meaning that they only open about an inch or so, but think they are more deterrents than actual safety feature.

In the summer would be good to be able to open the windows.

Any ideas? TIA.

If they are limited to an inch of opening, how can the toddler fall out is he Houdini?

I guess the child extenders might not be strong enough to defeat a child

One of my friends uses stair-gates across the windows of his house.

Window restrictors available here. Advice line very helpful too 0207 228 1185

Stair-gates aren't recommended across windows (because they can be opened). However, you can get something similar which doesn't open. I'll see if I can find a picture of what I mean, but I think they might look a bit like prison bars .

These are the types of things I was thinking of www.childsafetysystem.co.uk/.

We also have a similar problem as the bedroom window of our ds's is on the 2nd floor (3 storey house)!

Thanks . Am not sure whether I'm being paranoid that DS (2) will be able to open the windows despite the restrictors. DP went and shook them really really hard, but not sure. Plus DS is obsessed with cars, so is attracted to the windows...

Going to measure...
