Chosen a lovely wall paper - but struggling to find curtains that 'go'...

Hi,

We found a wallpaper we LOVE and its gone up - it looks stunning. Its cream with a cream satin sheen pattern on it - which literally glows when the sun shines in.

However - I don't want 'blah' cream curtains - I'd like something a bit more of a statement and am really struggling to put a pattern next to a pattern iyswim...

We have all new solid oak furniture - the carpets will be neutral when they go down and the bedspread hasn't been chosen yet. Rest of the non wallpaper walls are magnolia.

Can anyone help me decide on what kind of curtain fabric will 'go'??

Here's the wallpaper - link

That wallpaper is more PINK than I was expecting

could you go bold plain? and have matching cushions or something?

not sure the pc gives an accurate representation of the colour but most things would be ok with beige, magnolia and oak

We have a lovely wallpaper with a metallic sheen to it and we have gone for plain colour Roman blinds in a raw silk. They look fab, without arguing with the wallpaper!

Hmmm... its not a great colour match - there's definitely no pink in it. The matte part exactly matches the magnolia walls and so does the sheen part - its just shinier...

I keep thinking that the only bold plain colour that would go is chocolate brown and I'm not sure I'm keen...

Would this go?

I like that fabric, esp the blue in it

chocolate brown would be too boring

scurryfunge · 07/04/2010 14:15

Is this too dark?

I would go for plain silk in a duck egg blue or eau de nil green - very calming and contemporary.
Or deep red would go with ivory and oak if it's a more 'traditional/cosy' look you want

Thanks scurryfuunge I do like those curtains - but not sure if they might be to busy for the wallpaper. Can you put two busy patterns next to each other?

Jackstini I hadn't thought of duck egg blue - its my fave colour, but had been thinking of 'warm' colours to go with the gold sheen of the wallpaper - will the blue be too cool...?

Perhaps deep red is the way to go....

They're fab newmomma - also like them in the teal.

taffetacat · 07/04/2010 19:51

What about shutters instead?

Fliight · 07/04/2010 19:56

I just spent several seconds staring at it, waiting for the wallpaper to load - it was so similar to the background pattern on the page

Anything plain and bright will go with that. Pattern - don't. It has enough pattern.

I think a nice cerise, plum, deep pinky colour really. Or a nice green.

PlumSykes · 07/04/2010 20:00

On my computer, the wallpaper does look very peachy. If it's not, and is true cream, I would go for a bold stripe, perhaps teal/duck-egg and cream, with at least inch wide stripes, on a non-shiney, lineny fabric.

Ihatebeingfrugal · 07/04/2010 23:26

I would agree with the duck egg blue but in a plain slub/linen material. We have a similar satin sheen wallpaper (but in duck egg blue)and the light reflects off it differently throughout the day.We went for plain off white curtains as we thought another pattern on the curtains would have been too "busy".
