Anyone had their radiators power flushed before?

We're having our boiler replaced next week and all our radiators have to be power flushed before it's done.

DH organised it all so haven't spoken to the plumbers. Was wondering what power flushing entails. Will it be particularly messy? Does everything in all the rooms need to be covered up?

Is it safe for food to be out in the kitchen when the radiators in there are being done?

Feel a bit dim to be asking all those things, but just want to make sure I'm as prepared as possible.

Thanks.

We had ours done when we had a new boiler. I don't think there was any additional mess, or worries about food prep or anything. I think it all happens inside the pipes and radiators. Magic - our non-working radiators now work, and the ones that did work are hotter.

We had it done when several radiators were replaced. It's done by attaching hoses of some sort to the pipes, and running a special pumping system through them. No mess at all.

Well, there wasn't supposed to be, my plumber apologised profusely and cleaned up every drop!

You don't need to cover anything up (tho after my experience I'd say have a stack of wipe-up rags ready!) and there shouldn't be any mess or dust unless you're having other work done at the same time.

We had it done when we had a new boiler a couple of months ago. No extra mess, they just run a product through the system and flush it out so no different to just draining down the system. I wouldn't worry about it!

Thanks very much
