Talk to me about blues...

We are having our bathroom spruced up over the next few weeks with black slate imitation floor tiles, white wall tiles & a black/grey glass border. I am thinking that blue would look good on the walls above the border - anyone knopw of any good blue paints that would look fab with black/white tiles?

Also, any recommnedations for other colours that would look great?

Thanks

What about Weekend by Little Greene Paints www.thelittlegreene.com/paints-for-home/colour/Weekend/
They describe it as purpleish grey but it's a wonderful blueish. Very sophisticated. Little Greene do really good depth of pigment colours so it might be worth looking through their stuff and getting a tester pot sent.

I am crazy about paint colours so I'm going to hang around and see what others recommend.

Check out the paint and paper library colours. I have been looking at them tonight and love some of their blues. Farrow and Ball also do some lovely colours - parma gray is amazing if you get sun in the room (but can look rather gray than blue if you don't). You can also get them in a washable type finish which is good for bathrooms, but they still look quite matt.
Fired Earth also do some lovely colours.

DO be careful though, we had a quite dark kitchen, with slate tiles on the floor, and painted it parma gray - but it did look quite gloomy. We used some other blues, but found they always looked quite hard with the black and cream. Eventually we swapped for a green (F&B cooking apple green) which made the room so much warmer and fresher looking. It was quite an amazing difference!

(We have spent 12 mths decorating our house... I know some of these paint charts off by heart!)

Penona, I lurve F & B's cooking apple green, and have used it on bathrooms tongue and groove woodwork. Black and white floor, cold white walls, and then the cooking apple green is exactly the right balance of warm and fresh. Kind of cottage but also quite modernish without being funky.

Yes lemon, totally agree! Is much better (I think) than blues which can be cold and unwelcoming. I love cooking apple green. We painted our downstairs loo in it a week after we moved in to make us feel at home!

Thank you both very much I had thought about green, as it is a warmer colour, but DH dismissed it when I suggested it. May have to work om him LOL

Off to have a look at your suggestions.....

Thanks
