Friend looking at a cottage in Priors Marston which is located on the roadside of the lane. They're not local so hard to keep visiting to check how busy the traffic is, whether it is a cut through etc???

Can anyone on here help and also any local info greatly apprectiated. Don't have children schools/activities not particularly relevent

Hello - I am fairly local (live in Leamington) - don't know huge amounts about Southam/Priors Marston but didn't want this to go unanswered.

I don't drive so unfortunately can't answer the road question.

I have known a few people to live in Southam and all said it was quite typical village-like in that everyone knows everyone else's business. But it is bigger than a small village, so not sure to what extent they meant.

The bus route goes to Rugby and Leamington, but is only once an hour and is quite expensive. There are a few nice pubs in the village

I have suggested my friends book a B&B locally and then camp out on the driveway of the house for rush hour to get an honest opinion of how busy the lane gets

Southam is a small growing market town, quite a few pubs, 2 primarys and a secondary school. Has expanded quite a bit in last 10 years, big new build estate on outskirts. I havent lived there for years, but not a lot going on-cafe culture for example has yet to be discovered

Priors is a few miles from Southam and is much more of a proper village.

They want to know how busy Southam Road is as it goes into Priors as they would be living right on the lane. Is it likely to be a cut through for traffic in rush hour or something.

They want remote so lack of cafe culture not an issue

I don't think the road is that busy but I don't live there (have looked at houses there though). There's a neighbouring village called Priors Hardwick and they kind of merge into one. It's not really a cut through to anything.

There's a great (but expensive) restaurant there - a kind of destination/special occasion place and a nice pub. But there are no other amenities until you get to Southam (which put us off a bit, although I think you can buy milk at the pub).

Southam isn't much to write home about but you're fairly close to Leamington for shopping.

We live in Southam and really love it here. Very convenient for shops and services and the school is excellent. The people are lovely here too. Met some really nice people. Feel this is the place to buy property as it is on the up!
