Do you find that they scratch easily? And how easy do you find it to sand the scratches out?

We had a resin worktop fitted about two weeks ago and have been ultra careful about using chopping boards,no sharp items on counters ect,but I've already noticed a lot of very light scratches. We were sold these tops because apparently it is easy to sand out marks so the tops are good as new.But when I've tried,it has looked even worse than it did originally.Luckily the kitchen fitter has managed to get rid of the ones I spotted when he was here, and I've got the salesman coming back on Friday,so shall grill him and get him to give me a demo.

Any tips for the right technique to sand out scratches?
Thankyou

DH despite multiple loud warnings from me to use a larger chopping board accidentally cut slices into BIL's counters, which I think were resin, and my best mate advised rub vaseline into the scars - seemed to work, but I couldn't swear what the surface was.
