Slate Floor Tiles

I would like slate floor tiles or something similar in our bathroom but the tiler said that if you drop water on them they leave terrible water marks (I am in SE so limescale is an issue) - has anyone noticed this or have any recommendations for something similar? Thanks

We had some in the kitchen and bathroom of a house we rented for a short time.
When we moved in I thought they were gorgeous, by the time we left I swore I would never ever live in a house with slate floors again! The water marks were a nightmare, and I could only get the kitche tiles (they had a textured finish) clean by getting down on my hands and knees and scrubbing them.

I think you can seal them, can't you?

I have slate-effect ceramic tiles in my bathroom which are pretty good. You can tell the difference, but I'm a ponce - they look fine.

I think slate-effect is probably much easier in terms of upkeep than the real thing.

We inherited a kitchen/dining room with an uneven slate floor from a reclamation company, but as someone says it's a nightmare to clean (it's very porous and uneven).

Consequently it rarely gets cleaned , although I've just discovered Lithofin which you leave on for a bit and it soaks the dirt out.

You still have to soak up the dirty puddles from the dips, but I'm now plotting for a Scooba.

Lovely but really not worry the effort IMHO.

We have them in our kitchen. Sealed, so water marks not a problem, but a nightmare to keep clean. Even with Lithofin!

You're supposed to re-seal them once a year.

No watermarks on ours.

Thanks. Will have a thinky
