We are after a traditional ladder style chrome towel heater. If anyone has one, can you tell me how long it takes to heat up. The place we were buying one from have said 15 mins!! I would be long out of the shower by then.

are you looking at an electric one?
we have a radiator one, which works fo rus because we have the heating set to be on in thr morning while we have our showers.

not sure what we'll do in summer though! lol

Yes. We are having under floor heating and the electric towel heater just to warm towels prior to bath/ shower and to dry them after.

You can have it wired into a timer, so you can set it to come on before you get up.

It is for the house bathroom, we have a separate shower room which DH and I use for showers. It will be used for occasional showers and bath time for DD's every other night.

We could set the timer to come on in advance of bath time and then an over-ride switch for occasional showers. So thanks - good idea!

You will need to either get a timer which is suitable for bathrooms, or have the actual timer outside the bathroom - maybe an airing cupboard if it's close by - that's where I have all our bathroom electrics.

When we had our new bathroom, I went for a towel-rack radiator in the end, but I did see a bathroom fan heater which you could have on a timer, which had a towel rail under it - the rail wasn't heated itself, but the heater blew the hot air over the towels on the rack to warm them and the room at the same time.

DeLonghi make an integrated towel radiator c/w a fan heater on the bottom. Come in three sizes, and cost from c.£350 up tonot sure. We bought the smallest one and it's fab

It does take about 15 mins to heat up the rail bit, but of course the fan bit is instant.

It is made as an electric heater too, so no problems later in its life unlike most towel radiators which are converted from a wet heating system. Apparently...

It comes with various settings and timers and so on too, really well thought out. Our electrician had never seen one before but was well impressed when he fitted it.

Well recommended...

We bought it off the net - indeed it is / was only available that way last year. No idea about the situation now...

Thank you both. I'll have a look at the fan set-up it sounds interesting.
