I am all for paying a fair price but they have said it will only take 6 to 7 working days to complete by one man. It is only a small kitchen!! Basically the installation is as much as the kitchen itself!

Is this a 'normal price'to be paying for kithcen installation???

Nooooo, you need to find an independent chippie or builder (or Kitchen fitter) phone around and get some quotes as B and Q are extortionate and that is far too much to pay, i would hazard a guess that if your kitchen is fairly small you would and should be looking at a max of 2k depending on where you live. No NO No!

Wickes quoted me about the same amount.I got a referal from my electrician for an independent kitchen fitter, who bought round a portfolio of his previous work. His rate is £150 a day and other quotes were the same.I worked out that even if he took 6 days,it is still £3400 less than Wickes were charging.I think they make up the money they have lost in the sales by bumping up the install price.

I discovered that Screwfix website has a talk section and a kitchen fitters thread. This has proved to be a goldmine of useful info, from quote rates to how they rate the different kitchen supplies for quality.I recommend you have a look on there, you can even ask if there is anyone near you to give you a quote.

I third the NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! That is ludicrous. My new kitchen (which is quite big) is costing £1900 to install. 101's advice sounds good to me.
