We are having our kitchen extended and are buying completely new units. Ideally we'd like painted wood - bluey-grey type colour - but realise we'll have to buy cheaper units and paint them unless we were to fork out ridiculous amounts on a Smallbone of Devizes type affair.

My question is, where would you buy such units? Has anyone done anything like this and can advise?

Thanks!

we are looking at handpainted kitchens of christchurch.

they seem reasonably priced and much more flexible than the wickes of this world. i schlepped down to have a look at them adn was very impressed. and you can paint them any colour you like!

They do look lovely , and the pictures on the website are beautiful. Long way from where I am, though, and I think I'd want to see them before buying.

ok - we went to Wickes and magnet and a couple of other places yesterday had a look at the kitchens, someone from Wickes came out to the house, measured the kitchen and we went in today... and bought a new kitchen! I know I had reservations but we have been assured that what happened with the bathroom wont happen again!

so I bought the heritage range in bone - i loved the green/grey but it would have been too dark in this house, and we got a huge discount on the worktops too, saved £500! I am so pleased and I got a wine cooler in there too which has made me glow inside (tis the little things in life y'know) I cannot wait now!

so thanks for helping me choose mumsnetters.
