Dulux paintpod - any experiences?

I was thinking of trying this as I basically need to paint my whole house and thought it might speed up the job.

Does it work well?

Is it faster than conventional rollers?

Thanks

we got ours for 30 quid on sale from Homebase however, when trying it at home, my DH said it was crap and wasn't pumping through the paint quick enough. He couldn't make it work properly at all and the self washing system didn't work at all.
He took it back and said it must be faulty but couldn't be bothered to buy another.

I think a friend said they had one and it was fine so hopefully it would be if you had one. The idea seems so easy.

luciemule,

Thanks for that. That sounds frustrating. I would love to hear some positive experiences before taking the plunge!

Specifically whether it is faster and more efficient, or just aimed at people new to painting you may think it's harder than it is!

We have used the paint pads before - they're good if you decide not to choose the paint pod. They covered very evenly and were easy to use.

It was invented by my neighbour. I don't know if that counts as a good thing

pop round and ask him!

I still swear by rollers! If you get yourself organised ie get everything ready to start painting, you can do the cutting in (BORING!) then roller the whole room, put the roller in a tight plastic bag, repaint later even twice more if necessary, then bin the roller. You can buy a roller assembly + tray for £1.99 which makes it more or less disposable!

Also I've been told that paintpods make the who job a LOT more expensive.

luciemule · 12/02/2010 19:17

Yes, Ampere- you do have to buy (so they say) the special Dulux paint for the paint pod.

geordieminx · 12/02/2010 19:20

Pish.

You have to buy the system, you have to use special paint, and you use a lot more paint than if you were rollering.

Second ampere's advice.
