Moving without any white goods, best plan??

We are leaving our white goods behind as part of the "deal" when we move but they're not included where we're buying, so we need to get fridge/freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer and dish washer - the 1st 2 being the most urgent!!

Once we exchange do you think it would be safe to arrange for deilvery on moving day or is that a bit risky? Can anyone erceommend best company for timed deliveries, ie one which will deliver when they say???

Thanks!

We got ours delivered the day we moved, but we had completed the day before moving (long distance move) so we were there when the stuff arrived. Next day would be okay though perhaps?

We used O'Gormans (online shop). Have used them before and they do good prices on miele and we've never had any problems with them or with the white goods we've bought from them. Think John Lewis will do named day delivery but might cost. Pretty sure O'Gormans was free.

We had a washing machine delivered from appliancesonline the day after moving in to our current house and it worked out fine.

Ordered other things from them since, no problems so far. Good Luck!

i'd wait a couple of days after, you wont die without them for three days - it will just be a little inconvenience for the peace of mind that you will get them once you move in and have signed all the documents

Is there a smaller independent retailer anywhere near you? When we moved a few years ago they were great - the moving date kept changing(no surprises there)and they were really flexibile, happy to keep the fridge in their storeroom until it was finalised.

Only downside is that they can be a bit more expensive.

Or you could buy a cheap second-hand fridge to keep you going until you're new one arrives (order after you move in) then either Freecyle it or keep it in the shed for alcohol when you need a bit more space, parties, Christmas etc?

Bit more fridge space obviously - not suggesting you have the party in the fridge

A lot of the bigger places such as Comet have appliances to take away - assuming you have a car big enough to transport, or can do next day delivery.

john lewis are pretty failsafe in my experience.
