Selling house - need to do a HIP with limited budget, help!

I am trying to set up our Home Info Pack so we can put our house on the market. We're selling as we are utterly broke, hence I'd rather do it myself. Has anyone else done this and how? I have looked on a couple of sites but, as well as being heniously dull (so difficult to take it all in), it would have still cost us about £300!
Any pointers would be great, thanks!

It can be done yourself for less - only need te energy rating done by someone qualified. however, pretty sure if you shop around you should be able to get it all done for way less than 300. Check ourt moneysaingexpert.com

Thanks. Ended up on one site via moneysavingexpert.com and that was the one that led me onto the site where it would have cost me close to £300. Can see lots of places offering them for £200ish so need to investigate what they actually contain and if there are any other extra costs I'll need to figure in. (Yawn!)

Just a little tip - my daughter moved into her house on 23rd Decedmer and had one done through the estate agent, they said it was £300 and something when the house was put on the market in August, but it ended up costing £500 and something!! Because of deferral fee and VAT, uhhhh.

Our conveyancer did the HIP free as long as we chose him to handle the sale. Worth trying to find someone who does the same?

greensnail · 07/01/2010 20:12

We used hip save for ours. Their website says from £95, we paid more than this, but can't remember exactly how much. It was less than £200 anyway and definitely less than the estate agents were quoting us.

we paid £500. Didn't know anything about it and was conned by Foxtons. Bastards

nymphadora · 07/01/2010 20:43

Are none of the EA doing any offers? Mine has just gone on with free HIP as a special New Year offer as not many houses on atm

Fruitbatlings · 07/01/2010 20:46

Obviously not Foxtons!

Will have a look into these suggestions, thanks.
