Hi
We have been given 1000.00 from our parents towards the cost of a decent shed / workshop for the garden , as arrival of dc 4 means a garage conversion !
DH is concerned that we might need planning and i was wondering what sort of money my bil is going to want for building it ?
Has anyone done similar ? Thanks

Check with the Council planning helpline (on a hypothetical basis obv)but I think you may need planning permission because a wooden shed is a temporary structure and a brick one is permanent.

It's not important what the shed is made from, it's more an issue of how big it is (height to eaves & ridge, length and depth) and where it is sited in the garden. If you have these details then you should phone the council planning dept and ask them or if you are in England you can look here for some advice.

The planning dept may well ask you to send the details in to them so they can look into it and let you know in writing.
