Our vendors are leaving curtains but taking the matching tiebacks....

there

Our vendors took the curtain poles, light fittings, rotary washing line and water butt . Also they were going to take an apple tree and plum tree but decided to leave those when we said we expected them to "make good". They were a fair size and would have made a right mess if dug out. People are weird when it comes to selling houses.

Our vendor took the fitted wardrobes leaving about 50 holes in the wall. He said they were actually free standing in which case he must have hammered the wall 50 times. All poles were removed leaving several large craters per window.

It's not surprising though since he pretended to have a brain tumour and hid in a wardrobe on one of our visits...

lol at NoseyNooNoo - I should think if he was that attached to the wardrobes that he hung out in them regularly, you probably wouldn't have wanted him to leave them really.

We sold our flat to a guy with a very controlling father. He got involved in every detail at every stage and was generally interfering and obstructive. This guy called me to say that he was concerned about the fire risk of his son living in a second floor flat and was going to advise him to pull out of the sale. I pointed out that we had a small baby in that flat and felt safe enough with an emergency ladder that we had rolled up and stored behind the sofa.

"Oh" says he "if you are leaving that, then its OK". "No" says I "we'll be taking it with us to use on the top floor of the new house."

Basically, he dug in and refused to allow his son to progress until I agreed to leave my readily-available-on-the-internet-for-£70 fire ladder.

He later calls and says that he felt he'd been unreasonable and that he would ensure that he and his son would send me a cheque each to cover the cost of the ladder half-and-half. I received one cheque but not the other and the one I did get, I binned.

Can you tell that this STILL winds me up?

When we moved in here the vendors had taken the basket off the back of the front door; fitted wardrobes; shelves- you name it. Every wall had unfilled holes in where they'd taken something off. DH said it didn't matter and wouldn't take it any further.

We did once have a very weird neighbour who moved in (and out) in the middle of the night. Each time he moved he took all the plants from the garden (not potted ones-actually planted in the ground); all the light bulbs, doorhandles, curtain tracks, letter box... basically everything he could take.

Our vendors are apparently regretting agreeing to leave the curtains as they were expensive and the shop they got them from has closed but for some reason whose logic escapes me they are taking the curtain poles... but will fold the curtains nicely for us....

They have also decided to leave the bedroom light fitting but take the crystals that they had wired to it.

when MIL and FIL bought their house the vendor took up the carpets and removed every lightbulb, after FIL stated that no, he would not be paying extra cash for the lightbulbs.

you guys are going to laught a lot but we took our doorbell with us (it was a very expensive antique one). we did put a new one in....

The people who once owned our house took the grill pan but also refused to leave the code for the house alarm. She had a total personality change too. Before our offer was made and accepted she was perfectly lovely. Once agreed, she turned into a nightmare and I still shudder when we get post for her 5 years on.

HerHonesty · 18/12/2009 19:05

can i just add that they did gazunder us when i was 6 months pregnant.....

FlyMeToDunoon · 18/12/2009 19:09

The couple we bought our house from wanted to take the bathrom radiator with them until we pointed out that it was mentioned in the house details. They left their cooker which was filthy and had a grill coated in grease.
When selling our last house I was asked if we were taking the kitchen. Um no.

When we finally moved into our dream home, having waited 9 months to complete, the front room had several wires coming out of the wall where the TV was, and the hallway same from the ceiling, just chopped off across the wires, with a post-it note attached: "WARNING: LIVE WIRES". Just what you want with a toddler...
