2 out of 3 house came back on the market

OK, we have offered on 3 houses since we started house hunting but were unsuccessful. However, a few months later house #1 came back on the market a we had our offer accepted - we have exchanged & complete on Monday.

Last week DH got a call from the EA to tell us house #3 has come back on the market & to see if we are still looking. This house needs competely renovated so we are very happy we are not living through all of the work.

We can't wait to move into our new house on Monday but the reason for my post is to tell you not to give up hope. 2 out of the 3 houses that we offered on came back on the market so that is positive news for house hunters. We made sure we kept in contact with all of the EA in our town so that they thought of us when anything suitable was about to hit the market. Good luck to everyone

Funny that - I noticed 2 houses that were under offer in our village have just come back on to the market. I wonder if people are having problems getting mortgages at the moment? We're waiting to see what happens next year before diving into the market again - quite happy renting until then!

Good luck with the move

We moved in May 08 having first offered on the house in September 07. Off loading ours was a bit of a struggle at that time and then this was sold to at least two other people but fell through. Definately keeping in touch with the agents is the way to go!

When I worked in an Estate Agents we used to sell a cheap insurance policy (to cover surveyors and solicitors costs) because 30 - 35% of sales fell through.

Our place as under offer and then yes, one of the couple buying it got made redundant. Didn't think to tell us until we rang them to say we'd found a place and had made an offer, though. Bastards.

Congrats on your exchange, HHNM!

Yes, the house we've now completed on (as of Friday) was back on after having supposedly been sold.

And ours, last November, went under offer then the crash came and of course...buyers pulled out. Its been happening a lot.

Happening a lot round us too.

I suspect a lot of the houses that were apparenlty 'sold' in the summer were where offers have been accepted but only really conditional sales that are dependent on the buyer being able to sell their own house for a silly price. Vendors need to learn to accept lower but solid offers.

pofacedandproud · 29/11/2009 16:28

insurance policy very good idea. Why don't more EA offer this? Our buyers pulled out of day of exchange incurring huge costs to us.

Speckledeggy · 02/12/2009 23:03

We pulled out of buying a house because the mortgage valuation came in lower than our offer price.

The vendor wouldn't accept our lower offer. The house is still on the market now.

Makes me nervous on what we should offer when we find something else tbh.
