Who has/had a manual timer on their boiler who might know what I'm on about.....?

I'll try and explain, but usually hopeless and probably won't make any sense at all.

We recently had a brand new boiler fitted (Remeha Avanta Plus)
It has a manual timer which looks like a dial with the little white prong things all around the outside which you press for whatever time you want the heating to come on - know what I mean?

Anyway, the dial is supposed to turn throughout the day and the heating comes on once the little arrow reaches the pressed down prongs. I'm sure if you've had one of these or have one then you know what I mean.
So, since yesterday it has got stuck at about 10.15am.
I've tried turning the dial by hand but I'm not sure if you're meant to do that so I didn't put too much pressure on it. The actual clock in the middle of the dial works fine and the heating comes on if I press the prongs down at the 10am mark but I don't want to heating on all day!

I did notice that when I tried to change the timer, some of the white prongs were quite stuck down

Do I need to call out the plumber who fitted it? Or is there a simple solution?

Or am I making no sense whatsoever?

at 10:15 is there a white plug?

maybe you should take them all out and put them in again.

certainly twist the dial all the way round without much force to see if it always sticks in the same place.
if it does, it needs replacing as its faulty.

Ours stopped turning when the fuse blew.

Also check it hasn't been turned off at the switch!

Fruitbatlings · 26/11/2009 16:52

The heating/hot water works so it hasn't been turned off.

I've just tried turning it again, it does turn right round and have just tried to reset the clock but it's got stuck again.
Gah!

I hate all this, why doesn't anything just work properly?
(Have just had to pull off the front of our cutlery drawer as it got jammed and now have cutlery all over our kitchen worktop )
What's going to go wrong next?
Will have to call the plumber in the morning....
Thanks for your help

we had one like that in prev flat. There were other little plastic bits somewhere that had to be pressed for it to actually rotate. I think you may have it set not to rotate. Either that or it is faulty.

have a good look all around the dial adn see if there are any other settings. I seem to remember a small plastic switch somewhere.

Definitely get the plumber back. ours started doing strange things like this year which I hopefully ignored at first then started to work around as you do.

Eventually got a plumber in and numerous visits later it all got replaced and now works.

So I would definitely get him back while you an claim its under guarantee.

Did the plumber leave you the instruction booklet?

Fruitbatlings · 26/11/2009 17:25

there is a small plastic switch. You set it to either, on, off or timer. It's on timer.

Hi CarGirl yes he did leave the instruction booklet but it doesn't say much apart from how to set it.

I've now noticed that when I set little white arrow to point at 5pm, the actual time is 12. It should be the same time.
Must be faulty - it's got a 2 year guarantee so should get it fixed for free

just wondered if the booklet had a problem solving page does sound faulty though!

Fruitbatlings · 26/11/2009 17:52

yes it does but doesn't mention the problem I have - typically!
