Hi,

Im thinking of relocating to Devon. We have a almost 3 year old and a 19 month old .
Would like somewhere ideally with plenty to do with the children...good schools..no more than an hours drive from a beach and no more than 45 minutes from Plymouth.

Any ideas...thanks

Exeter fits all those requirements but is fairly expensive in relation to other (smaller) towns.

I'm now in the SE, always thought I'd move back to Devon but met a man from Scotland so it won't happen. Envious of your move!

Exeter is nice but I have always had a hankering for moving to North Devon. Maybe Braunton or somewhere like that.

I am just outside of Exeter and would have said Exeter would fit your requirements!

North Devon is lovely (my DP comes from there and the in laws still live there) but it is too remote for me and I hate driving on the north Devon link road! Plus it is probably nearer 2 hours away from Plymouth.

Whoops missed the bit about Plymouth!

How about the South Hams area? Totnes/Kingsbridge I grew up there, loads of beaches, good schools but they are Market Towns so stuff going on but still small enough to be a community

Have fun! I live in Scotland now, very nice but much colder than Devon

I love Totnes but its a bit £££££ .

The area has a nice bohemian vibe about it, some lovely shops and retaurants/cafes but you're still close to the coast and the more (dare I say) "tacky" seaside towns and attractions if thats what you want

Yealmpton, small but nice community with a nice primary school. About 15 minutes from nearest beach
Ivybridge, bigger but with less character. Lots of good primaries and a great community college. About 20 minutes from nearest beach.
Tavistock is lovely. But a complete b**stard to get into plymouth (traffic dreadful).

I've lived in all of those places.
