Getting rid of crazy paving insulated ceiling upstairs, and downstairs stucco/artex ceiling

About to offer on a house that has crazy paving insulated ceiling upstairs- doesn't seem to be tiles but it is hideous. As it is probably somekind of insulating material then presumably it has to come off before you plaster over it as otherwise the plaster would just come off? Has anyone had this done? How much was it? It is for two bedrooms- 15'10x11'11 and 13'8 x 12'

Also downstairs has that horrid stucco or artexy ceiling (the icing peaks type)- how easy is that to get rid of? Can it just be plastered over? Again is it going to be expensive? This is mainly for one room 18' x 8'6

Don't know about the insulated ceiling, but every ceiling in our house had artex when we moved in and we've gradually had it all re-plastered. The circle-type was easy and they just skimmed over it, but the icing-peak type needed the tops taking off first (which dh did with a wallpaper stripper and scraper, although have since found out artex can have asbestos in - eek!)

We had the whole room skimmed at the same time as the artex came part way down the wall and and I think the whole thing came to about £800 for ceiling and walls, but was for a bigger room than yours. We've also found a cheaper plasterer since then, so I'd advise getting a few quotes.

Don't know how much these jobs would cost, but you have to be careful with artex as it can contain asbestos. This should be mentioned in a survey & if you decide to have it removed (remember it will most likely be hiding something underneath ) it's a professional job.

We have artex on all our ceilings & I've learned to live with it

We had icing peaks style - tops scraped and then re-plastered. Def. a professional job, and I advise you to have a bolt hole for a day or so beyond when it happens.
