Black and Cream/Oyster ... what accent colour could i use?

I am moving house in 4 weeks time and we are going to measure up next weekend. I need to get some curtains made for our new living room and we have two sofas, one black and one a sort of oyster colour with a black large leaf pattern - they are the same style and whilst when i was pregnant i loved them they are a bit overpowering now. Cant afford to buy another set of sofas (these are only a year old and really really comfortable). We are currently using red/burgundy as an accent colour here but it is just too strong to feel totally relaxed in.

I want to keep my new living room relaxing and quite neutral even if the sofas are a bit loud so was thinking of keeping everything else white and cream but with the black in the sofas it will be too stark, can anyone think of a nice, subtle accent colour to use with black/cream/oyster? I was thinking a nice sage green or pale blue ... any more ideas? Thanks!

I was thinking pale blue as I read, no idea about these things though - am just trying to postpone going out in that hurricane for as long as possible

i would go for something a little stronger than pale blue for an accent colour, teal or duck egg blue? like this?

I thouht mint green, for a rather art deco feel.

Ooh I would use orange with those colours, but it is my favourite colour. It is stronger than some but friendly and warming.

Ah thanks some good ideas there - have been raiding Laura Ashley for fabric samples yesterday and ended up with quite a lot of teal and duck egg colours (for the curtains).
