Joe's is the BEST! The strawberry marshmallow one wins hands down for me. My DH always laughs at how quickly I can eat it (disappears in seconds!). I can understand not 'getting' Joes if you just buy the icecream. You've got to go to the parlour in Mumbles for the full experience. And a fry up in mumbles after a big night out comes a close second!

Swansea is wonderful especially Mumbles. Yes, it rains, yes, the shops are the pits, yes, there are loads of noisy students, ,yes, wages are low, but we are friendly, people actually talk to you and show interest, food is reasonable and good, and the scenery all around is just perfect even in the winter. Then of course, we have JOE'S ice cream.

Another with a DH from Mumbles - we live in London and spend quite a bit of time there. We love going to the beaches and walking around the cliffs, even in the rain. I think the beaches are far better than anywhere like Cornwall etc, and so much easier to get to. Swansea itself and Mumbles are a bit run down, unlike similar Cornish villages/towns, which is a shame.

If your DH is at the uni I presume he'll be at the new campus which is a bit out of town but if he is a cyclist then it's easy to get to. Driving from Mumbles to Swansea or Swansea to the M4 and back is no fun - especially in good weather as the roads are always so congested.

It is very wet and I think during autumn/winter all the buildings look damp all the time but during the summer if the weather is warm then I'd happily holiday there rather than going abroad.

Can't beat a Joe's cornet with nuts...

Oh and my favourite shop of all time is Oyster in Mumbles...we're going to Mumbles for half term and I can't wait.
