Clearing out the glory hole that is our shed

Moving in the not too distant future and about to tackle clearing the cr*p out of the shed. There's loads of stuff like white spirit in there and I'm not sure whether just to take it to the tip and have done with it. (This seems to be the obvious thing to do) Does anyone know whether removal companies will actually transport it and if they have any other general no-no's that I need to be thinking about?

Also there's loads of paint cans - loads of muted shades - from previous decorating sessions (inside and out). Is it worth making a list of what colours were used where (especially the wood colour for the bin cupboard, cladding etc) so that the eventual buyers have something to work from (in the event that the walls/woodwork get damaged and just need a touch up)? Or am I giving myself an un-necessary job and assuming that the purchasers might share my tastes in paint colours?

Um

You do realise glory hole has another meaning?

The list is a lovely idea. I'd ask your buyers before taking ages though.

We took paint with us (in a big cardboard box .. but check with your removal company just in case)

Freecycle is great too. And I'm sure there is a website where you can donate paint for good causes.

my granny had a glory hole.
was only very recently I found out what it meant

chuck/recycle it all and dont worry abou the paint samples. you've got enough to worry about. and your new owners prob wont thank you for leaving behind a load of manky old paint.

Oh lordy - had no idea. Clearly should have spent more time round the back of sheds as a teenager finding these things out

not sure if it is nationwide but in london there is a scheme called community repainting which takes donations of old paint and recycles them to, i dunno, yoof groups and charities and people that need them. sometimes there is a collection point at local tip.
there is a website here www.communityrepaint.org.uk/
if not one near you your local council might have a similar scheme
(Can you tell i've just cleared out our gloryhole shed for a house move?)
