Dark Blue for fireplace wall?

medium sized room with wooden floors, good sizes bay window which brings in a lot of natural light especially afternoon/evening time. chimney breast, with fireplace removed (feature recess in place), and relatively shallow recesses each side.

There will be a white painted heavy wood shelf (half fire surround, the top part of one) with filigree underneath. There will be a large while mirror like this one above it.

In one recess there will be a white computer desk, modern, ikea, (not ugly) and a white leather chair. On the other recess there is an off white tv stand, and there will be white floating shelves above.

There is a wall light in each recess which is a plain oval shaped wall light that will be painted whatever colour the wall will be, to be descrete (just see the light above).

We have a dark brown chunky leather sofa, and a huge modern rattan oval/round shaped light fitting (from ikea).

The rest of the walls will be an off-white (vaguest hint of blue) and white woodwork.

Curtains/blinds will be chosen to match darker wall colour.

So. With all this white, what do you think about dark rick blue for the chimney wall and recess walls (right across).

thinabout oh glad someone else has it! I want bold but not red, so blue just seems like a good colour without being too harsh. Do you have any photos?

Sorry, no pics. We've decorated again since actually. We liked it though, it was bold enough but not in your face IYSWIM. We had a colour somewhere between cobalt blue and a more navy blue (but NOT navy blue!!) We had some nice comments about it actually and it went well with our dark brown sofas.

yes i like that and its a good price too. We would only need 2 tins most I am sure ( then starts doubting that!)

I am glad you said it went with your dark brown sofas. As we have one. Only one, but very long. We also have a poang chair which has a cream and green cover! But that is not staying or if it does, cover will change.

F and B actually works out cheaper because it goes further - that is my experience and my decorators opinion. its not that expensive, worth it if you are doing a room at a time as the finish is better

if it comes out more than your carpets i would be very surprised, and slightly concerned about your carpets.
