OMG. Is it normal to have tile choice anxiety?

I was sure these tiles were fine and now they're up and I'm not at all sure!
But i have to accept it and move on!

i've had workmen in my house for over a week and I do literally want to throw myself under a bus, the mess, the chaos, the tile choice anxiety, the dust sheets, the feeling that my tiler is not really that good....

why is it so depressing?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
and the plumber wants me to get £500 out cash. that wasn't part of the deal!

I cried when the builder asked me where i wanted the plug sockets put. i remember wailing...i can't do this anymore, he finished very early that day

Dark granite is a thing of beauty but yes it is quite high maintenance.

Tell the plumber 'no' unless it was what was originally agreed

What makes you think the tiler is no good?

The whole process is hell, isn't it?

stealthsquiggle · 31/07/2009 14:03

...oh and all tiles look hideous until grouted.

lowlandlady · 31/07/2009 14:14

huge empathy and thanks jumpingbeans !

I know you're right stealthsquiggle but I just hope the terrible sinking feeling goes too.........

well he chipped the bath first......
they changed it now
and he was keeping all the bags of sand etc in the bath, I just don't want him to chip the new one.
He doesn't work like he's an old hand, he's kind of slow and chaotic. The workmanship isn't terrible but I just have lost confidence in him I think.
And even though he's a lovely bloke I want it all finished I can't take any more!!!

You all need to take a leaf out of my book - I take the children to granny's when we have big work going on and leave DP to deal with the chaos. This has seen me good through two lots of dry rot and a kitchen refit. Highly recommend it. When you come back you just have to pop things in pots and do some light dusting.

midnightexpress if I had to choose between living with either my DM or MIL or with the chaos of house renovation, I would stay put and live with the dust every time

Don't know what the fuss is about, they are plain tiles, nothing to dislike!
