Has anyone painted their pine bedroom furniture successfully?

I'm planning on an attempt to paint some elderly pine bedroom furniture (chest of drawers, wardrobe and 2 bedside cabinets) a cream/off white colour. Has anyone else done this? I'm assuming it's best to use a special paint for this? Will it turn out ok or just look shit?

It is indeed quite tricky to decorate and decide for the styles because you got tons of ideas and wish to incorporate them into one. I actually haven't tried painting a pine bedroom furniture yet but I guess it will be alright. In case she can't remember, please give this to her.

I have only thought about it haven't got around to it.

If you are aiming for shabby chic look a lot of people use Annie Sloan I think. I have asked when I see a upcycled piece. It gives a. Chalky finish. Depends what you want. Be interested to see final photos😃

THIS THREAD IS 9 YEARS OLD. I should imagine the OP has bought new furniture by now....

Chalk based paint (like Annie Sloan) is fabulous, as it doesn’t need any/much priming and is odourless (paint inside). You can finish it with a matt gloss if you don’t like the vintage wax finish

Lol - I was googling to find out how to paint pine furniture (mine has gone an unattractive orangey colour) and came across this. Saw it was 2009 and thought no way can i revive a zombie thread - but someone has already done so!

I've done several pieces of pine furniture. My pine had gone so orange and mellow I grew to hate it.
My mist successful pieces have been painted with Rustoleum. I prefer it to other brands. Just personal preference.

The tins say no preparation is required but I always wipe down furniture thoroughly with either a sugar soap dilute solution or good old soapy water with washing up liquid. Use warm water. This removes any grease, dirt and dust first. I usually do this the evening begore to make sure the wood fully dries before painting. That is literally the only preparation I do.

I used an Annie Sloan starter kit - ie x2 cans of chalk paint, x2 waxes and a paint brush - to paint a bedside table mini chest of drawers. I couldn’t believe how easy it was - no preparation or stirring of paint, just dip brush in a paint.

Instead of a baked bean colour chest of drawers, I know have one in a pale blue (Provence) with the drawers in a pale green (lem lem).
