Lodgers - with meals included?

I've had some interest from people wanting to rent rooms from us but I would only do it if I could include the evening meal as I want to keep control of my kitchen. So we would all eat together. Anyone done this as I'd be interested to know how much extra you charge on top of rent.

Sorry I have no idea but bumping for you.

I did this when we had a french girl living with us for a year. tbh it was a lot of hassle and pressure, I was working full time and pregnant as well which didn't help but I found myself in the kitchen the day after ds was born making her dinner as she seemed to expect me to I personally wouldn't want to live somewhere that food was included as there's always a possibility you won't like it! I think if you're taking in lodgers then you have to accept that you won't have control of your kitchen tbh. As long as you make it clear that they tidy up after themselves it shouldn't be a problem.

goodness i can't imagine that would be a good idea. maybe ok if someone was staying with you to learn english but otherwise...noooo.

I have been a lodger. I would be very surprised if this arrangement worked for you tbh. Wanting to "keep control" will be difficult- control of your home is the first thing to go when you take in lodgers. Are you going to "keep control" of your laundry facilities, hallway coming and goings, bathroom, guests, garden, rubbish, TV etc. too? I was a very docile well-behaved lodger with no friends or social life in that city, and I went home to my boyfriend at weekends with all my laundry, and still I know that my landlady felt like I was in the way and she had not "kept control".

Sorry to sound harsh, just sounds like you are starting off with high expectations. Unless you are taking in eg students come to learn english, but even they can apparently be quite wild! (I have heard some stories!)
